Usually keep insurance on mine until end of november, but I watch the future weather forecasts. Supposed to be almost 80 here (detroit) sunday-tuesday.

As for how life is in the north where seasons change: I am currently sucking down some homemade oyster stew -- something I would NOT make in the hot weather.
sorry about that, I responded well after I read your note. I guess forgot your intent.
I guess for us in the fair weather climes, we get a bit spoiled. the worst I have to deal with is just rain.
I agree with your stew comment too.
enjoy!

Eh, I'm guilty of doing that myself.

during the winter. temps in the mid-high 20's. got a "possible ice" warning. not fun at 8k' elevation. fun it did handle it just fine.
(side note: car is going into the shop this weekend. replace the crankshaft sensor ).
otherwise, it be California, it ready at any time.
I lived in Santa Rosa for over twenty years and yes it snowed once for about three minutes in 1989. But the winter it rains a lot and parts of it flood so I’d park in the winter anyway. I’m heading for Sacramento in a few days and driving over the pass in my truck hopefully it won’t snow. As far as the “possible ice” warning that turns on all gm cars and trucks @ 37 degrees

my older daughter goes to UNR, but during the winter, I have yet to see her in reno. she takes the bus down the bay area.
I don't mind in clear weather, but not in the snow. I tried once years ago, even with chains, the car ( Pontiac grand am ), was sliding all over the place.

Couple of inches of snow here in Montana the other day, more snow in the forecast so I'm thinking I'm probably done for the year

Nope, October through May is the best time to drive them in TX. Now if I could just get it to quit raining on the weekends.

I'm with you brother. 71 here and got caught in the rain on a drive to Charlotte, NC just last week. Snow would be another issue for sure though.

We're supposed to set a record high tomorrow, too dang hot to ride the motorpickle. Plenty of prime Corvette and MC driving time left in the mountains this year although the leaf peepers clog things up in a month or so. I certainly won't drive the Vette in the snow as it's only got warm weather tires but as long as it's over 40 it's Corvette weather here.

I hoping to do the same. my dad was the same way too. he had a '98 Z28 that he bought new. over the years ( 15 ), he went through 3 motors, a trans,
many, many upgrades. after he passed away a few years ago, I got the car. at that time, it had 241k miles on it. I would guess about 30-40% of the miles, were 1/4 mile runs.
I put another 70k miles on it before I sold it ( replaced with the C6 ). our cars were not babied. the LS motors are pretty stout.
wring 'em out!

I wait until my last road trip of the year, down to Bethlehem PA for our annual cigar "herf" at the end of October, then it's nighty night until April.
