HUM.....Interesting.....i'm thinking that over the 50+ years and maybe 30+ vehicles that i've bought and had insured that I don't ever recall having the agent ask if we have a garage or not. But then again.....I ain't gettun any younger so maybe it is mem loss......LOL

Welcome to Corvette ownership where everything is more expensive... I pay $1100 per year to insure my weekend driver in Florida Worth every penny to me and luckily our weather allows me to drive it year round.

Never been asked if I garage any vehicle I have insured... that must be a state by state thing.

I have state farm too. I have my house, life and my silverado with them as well as my vette. I'm paying 360 every 6 months for the vette at 7500 miles a year. granted i have a clean driving record with them too.

wow, it's crazy how much rates vary. but what OP is quoted is CRAZY!!!

i have Erie Insurance and I pay almost $2k / year for 3 vehicles:
2011 GMC 2500hd
2015 Subaru Crostrek
2006 Corvette vert

the corvette is $35 / year of that . only stipulation is I "agree" to not drive it for 3 months out of the year.....easy to do in NWPA due to the snow.

It seems cheap to me, but my coverages aren't low either
300k/500k liability
250 deductable for collision & comp
rental, full tort, etc

They want 1K every 6mo for the same coverage I currently have on the other two vehicles, they will happily cover me. I do not have a garage, hence the problem. Any of you guys that don't have a garage have any ideas. I have tried a bunch of companies but no garage no insurance.
I can't get past paying 2K a year for a car i only drive 4000mi a year.

Thanks
I have priced all kinds of car insurance companies, and never been asked if the car will be stored in the garage. State Farm was one long term insurer, and they never asked.

Hard to believe the lack of garage is what’s causing the increased premium there... Very hard. It seems you’re not telling us something.

Edit: I am licensed in p&c, l&h, series 6, 63, 26, etc.

Or just tell them you have a garage. Are they going to send an adjuster to inspect your garage? If you get into a collision while driving, your cars not in the garage. If you get hit while parked at a store or whatever, it’s not in a a garage.

I understand that these collector insurance primary audiences are garage queens that never leave a sheltered area, but It’s a car. It’s a moving asset that sees the outside world.

USAA doesn’t ask if I have a garage. They only ask where the car is primarily kept at, which is my residence that determines the rate. My truck, boat, and Z06 was parked outside my hotel for 6 months straight during a work related trip. They never said a word.

Three months later, I wonder if the OP ever got the car and what he figured out for insurance?

You can have every member in this forum reply on what they pay for insurance and get a different price on every one. The possibilities are end less when it is determined how much your premium is. The main factor being your zip code.

^ Yup, but they keep throwing numbers out there, like there’s any way to compare apples to apples.

Your 100% correct. Two guys with the exact same car talking and one says to the other "were the same age and both have no tickets, why are you paying $400yr and I'm paying $800".
1-Where Do You Live
2-Credit Score
3-Multiple Car Policy
4-Multiple Discount (home,auto etc..
5-Defensive Driver Discount
6-Miles Driven A Year

Thats just to name a few
