Higher value for Vettes w/manuals?
I read that with the C8 that there will be no more manual transmission Corvettes. I'm wondering if this will prompt Vettes with manual transmissions to increase in value. You know, people like what they can't get. I have no plans of selling mine, but was just pondering.

Dont believe anything you read about the C8. They're probably wrong and just talking out their ***.
That said, sports cars almost always sell for more with a stick. Especially if the take rate is low. Stick shift porsches and lambos and others sell for vastly more than automatic versions. The gap is narrower in C6s since they sold a lot, but stick shift C4s sell for 20% more than autos typically.

When my nephew tore his Achilles tendon playing racquetball I had to pick up his Mustang and drive it to his home. No one - not any of his friends, nor his wife, nor his parents - could drive a stick.

I posted here a few days ago without much response. Only slightly off topic, but I was looking at convertible GS asking prices in my area - low mileage 2010-2012. The highest ask was for the MT. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...reciating.html
And yes, the 2020 C8 will have a Tremec DCT only.

About a year ago at was at the local Chevy dealer and they had five new C7 ZO6’s all with the ZO7 package and every one was an automatic.

Last time I looked, my dealer had around 32 new '19 C7's in stock and 31 were auto. It's safer for the dealer to order autos for stock.

All other things being equal, a 2012 base coupe with a manual is worth about $800 more than with an automatic, according to private party sale, KBB.

I don’t believe it has as much to do with auto vs manual but duplex supply and demand. From what I’ve read on production numbers a larger percent were automatic. Since manuals are more rare they can demand higher prices despite autos costing more when new.

I forgot how to drive an auto trans. When I got the rental car after I dropped my car off at the body shop a couple weeks ago, the first time I hit the brakes both feet went up...

My 2007 convertible is a M6, only 13.8% we made with the M6 + Z51
total Corvette M6 production
2005 = 40%
2006 = 43%
2007 = 31%
2008 = 33%
so it's not like they are rare but it would be nice if they became valuable

They made less of them so technically they are more "rare".
But...… they made less of them because less people want a manual.

Corvette sales are falling to many automatics. They call it paddle shifts I will not buy a automatic . Look at Porshe there sales are down they went slush box happy. Wake up Chevrolet it might be easy for you to make but what about the public and there demands. You want to sell cars build the stick shift.

If you look at earlier Corvettes, Porsches, Astons, really any performance car it's the same. New buyers want autos, so they sell MANY more autos. But used buyers want manuals, especially when they get down to middle class enthusiast prices.
The c6 will be no different.

FWIW.
I don't think there is a significant value increase for manuals transmission Vette vs automatic Vettes.
Repairs (and maintenance) for the manual in Vettes seems to cost more.
Rarity, I do not think enters the calculation as there are still 25% (guess) thousands of manuals.
That is the opposite of Italian car valuations.
There manuals are getting higher selling prices.
My take the automatics in those cars are more (way more) expensive to repair than the manuals,
not home garage friendly, plus the special tools for reprograming the autos.
Rarity, could enter the picture with 1% (guess) being manuals.
With todays traffic, I would prefer an automatic Vette.
But, with a Ferrari or Lambo, if I had a choice, I would buy the manual, even with traffic woes.
So ends my two cent comment

One of the reasons that almost all cars sold now are automatics is because of banks.
It's nearly impossible to get a loan for a car with a manual transmission. I'm not sure how the Corvette market fits in that (I'm guessing Corvette buyers are more credit worthy than basic Honda or Toyota customers, or Hyundai or Kia customers), but for most banks and lenders, there's a very strict "Automatic transmission only" policy for their loans.

Never heard of that policy?
x2 on less manuals cause there are more buyers for autos. Whats a few hundred maybe..in the grand scheme of things.
Asking prices dont really mean too much.
Just dont think all that applies to the newer gen stuff, perhaps the older ones. (faufees comment and say an old M 4 spd over a T350. These arent collectible cars anyways .
