Did you resurface or replace the rotors?

My car did this for a year. I was so pissed. Then one day I decided to remove the emergency brake drums (this only applies to the rear wheels)... turns out one of my drums retaining spring was completely off and scraping onto the hub the entire time. I simply put the spring back onto the drum. My life became heaven. I fell in love again.

In most cases, brake squeal is caused by hi-frequency vibration of the pads against the rotors. Old "shade tree mechanic" trick is to spread a thin film of hi-heat grease on the back of the pads & re-install. Just be careful not to get any grease on the rotors. If that doesn't work, you can go on to check rotors for run-out or scoring due to a broken pad.
