Sorry for your bad luck getting the guy at the dealer that didn’t give a crap about someone else’s stuff. I run a service facility and unfortunately this is the mindset of many people in that line of work. I agree with the above post, find a specialty shop that does care and never look back. Just get the car fixed and try to look it as a lesson learned. We had an employee with the last company that I worked for, at another location thank God, that took a Vette on a test drive and wrapped it around a telephone pole at 80mph. Poor customer was in there for an oil change. Manager and employee lost their jobs.

Sorry for your luck! At least the dealer accepts responsibility and is willing to fix it. Crap happens!

OP, I'm with ya. No one has the right to damage anyone's property no matter how small. Also, it's not up to others to decide what is and isn't major enough to cause angst. I'd have the dealer take care of it.

But keep that thought the next time you are out on your scooter, stop for a beer, and watch someone walk by and knock your bike over. It's just a bike.

Did the dealer threaten you not no say their name in public? What is the big secret?? I had a dealer screw up a diagnosis on my 2010 base. Their estimate was for over $2,000. Took it to a shop that found the problem and fixed it for $75. I named the dealer in THIS forum. I also named them when they refunded the cost of my service visit. Calling them out by name may help another forum member.

If it bothers you that much then bring it to your own quality shop and let them pay for it or like the others mentioned let the dealer repair it.

Got mine up on a lift today for the first time since I've owned it. There's all kinda $hit going on where I can't see it. I think I'll leave it alone and keep on driving!!

I put a lot of thought into whether or not to mention them by name. The whole service experience was actually pretty good aside from this issue. The manager pretty much immediately took responsibility for it after I laid out my case. In my estimation it was a stupid careless tech that is 100% to blame for this.

Once I get it resolved, I’ll probably say who it is and post pics of the repair job. I’m pretty agitated that I had to go through this but I also have a managerial role in a business and I know what it’s like when a rank and file employee screws up and I have to take responsibility for it. I just want to give the full picture before I mention them by name.

I would be pissed as well. If it just happened that is one thing. But when you specifically go over this, and they assure you that it will not happen and it still gets damaged, that is another thing. This fact alone would probably **** me off more than the actual damage.

**** happens and it would be hard to believe it was intentional. Sounds like the dealer is stepping up to correct their mistake so I don’t think it would e necessary to throw them under the bus at this point.

This type of reckless behavior happens way too often in a lot of these shops. Even a reputable dealership can have a slacker who does a very poor job. Some employees are just plain careless and it's honest people who have to suffer for their lack of responsibility. I would be very unhappy if that happened to my car too. Hopefully they will fix it properly without damaging something else in the process.

Stories like this are why I keep a set of jacking inserts in each car. I hand them to the service advisor or leave them in the driver's seat EVERY TIME any of them is brought in for service.

Kudos for the dealership for stepping up and rectifying the situation.

Furthermore, suppose I want to sell the car down the road, and I disclose this damage and it causes the car to be worth less? Now that's money out of MY pocket."

I get that you love your car, and want to keep it nice. But, things happen, and if this is the worst that has happened to you in awhile, you live a blessed life. What more do you want the dealer to do, other than repair it?

A man I know was killed in a motorcycle accident a couple days ago. He cherished his bike...put very few miles on it, rode only in the best weather, and did everything but give it a kiss before going to bed. Now, he is gone, FOREVER. Stop complaining, and appreciate that you are able to drive that nice car.

I'll admit, it would upset me too. The damage isn't bad enough to go on a forum and whine about it though. Thinking this is something that would need to be disclosed or worry it would affect the value is ridiculous.

Ignore Mcrider. I did a long time ago.

Sorry this happened to you bud. I know it sucks. I can't stand how people can be so careless with someone else's property. Especially when you spoke with them ahead of time about it.

I honestly would not want the rocker panel repainted for something like this. I would touch it up for sure. Dealing with mismatched paint on body panels would be far more frustrating for me personally. It's so minor that you will completely forget about it in a few weeks after touching it up.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

That wouldn't have prevented this from happening. The dumbass tech swung the arms directly into the rocker panel before checking to see if it would clear the rocker panel.
