Default Tranny Trouble

my 2007 z51 with 112000 miles started slipping when shifting into 3rd gear. Wondering if anyone else has this happen, and how to fix.

Yea it'd help knowing which one, alright.

If AT, has fluid been changed?
It's overdue, y'know.

If manual, remember car has 112K so how it been driven?
IMO a new clutch @112K wouldn't be unusual, especially if symptom's slippage.

My guess is it's nothing a simple fluid change is going to cure. Find a good independent transmission shop that's familiar with Vettes.

Good luck!!

Yes ...at 112,000 not at all unlikely to have slippage. Chevy trans are prone to malfunction after 100,000. Some get lucky and have no issues. Changing fluid will sometimes bring issues to the surface.

If dealer 'flushed' tranny before refilling it might've resulted w/ embedded debris left behind.
That crap can/does break loose & often clog things up, then it very likely needs a rebuild.

The expert wrench I use would not flush trans on our high mile Cad for this very reason.
He drained everything he could, refilled rest w/ fresh fluid & the slippage we were experiencing went away.
Trans performed like new 'til we sold it 2 years later.

Consult w/ a reputable trans shop, by reputable I mean solid refs since these outfits have been known to be shady.
Do a search for any Corvette Clubs close by, write an email to the provided addy, ask who their members use for this kind of work.
G/L, keep thread updated.

thanks for all the advice. why would this need to go to the off topic section? seems to be general discussion to me.

The term "tranny" has multiple meanings. Just my poor attempt at humor.

I know not a Vette, I had an 06 Toyota Camry never has an issue ever , had a transmission service which included a flush in 5k miles started slipping went to the dealer they said the trans needs to be replaced. I went to an independent shop said it happens all the time when they use the flush process. Car had 120k.

I thought that when I first saw the thread title, but I refrained from making any cheap lewd comments because I like to stay above the gutter.

Well, in my defense I just googled “tranny trouble”. The results, (no mention of car transmissions):

My biggest pet peeves:

Calling Transmissions, Tranny's
Calling Convertibles, Verts.

A Corvette can be a Vette though.

Screw the "new" trannies. Transmissions were trannies long before the "trannies" were.

I'm neutral on the "vert" thing, having never owned one and never expect to.

And I'm fine with "Vette", often using it myself. However, some use "vet" which is sacrilegious and should be forbidden.
