Default What would you pay?

Hey Guys!

Im looking to get my wife a C6 and came across the following:

2005 C6 Convertible
23,000 miles (exactly that amount)
Mill Yellow with Black top and Black interior
Auto
Z51 Package
1SB Option
Power Top
New Tires all around
No Nav
No Select Ride
I would rate it in "EXCELLENT" condition inside and out
Paint I would rate a 9 out of 10
Interior I would rate a 9.5 out of 10
Vert Top I would rate a 10 out of 10 (it was flawless)
Calipers look a tad worn (need a good powder coating) but all the C6's I've looked seem to need the calipers cleaned up

So I would like to ask what you would pay for this car - Ill post the dealer's (firm) price after I get a few replies... This is a family owned dealership, been around for 60 years...(not a Chevy or named brand dealership). All they sell are Corvettes.

I wouldn't. Uy it, due to being a 4 speed auto. But if you're asking what it's worth, I'd figure 23 to 25k.

Low to mid $20's sounds about right but if it's one of the known corvette dealers online then I'm sure it is 10K over what it should be. How they sell any cars is beyond me.

$18-20k...not a dime over that. Nothing wrong with the 4 sp auto...its just not a 6 sp auto. I had an 05 and loved it.

I don't think I would go over about 23k. Do the tires just look new? Check the date on them. Over about 5 years old, have them knock off 1k from the price. Check Kelly Blue Book value, NADA, and Edmunds price guides. Best regards

The car appears to be very well sorted out and a real beauty. With 23k Miles, maybe up to $25k. It has a lot if life left and if your wife is crazy for it, it is worth what you spend.

The A4 in an '05 is probably one of the strongest, most-reliable tranny that has ever been put in a Corvette.

I recently played hard ball with a CA dealer on a fully optioned 2006 coupe with 6spd trans. 20k miles. Very clean car overall. Wouldn’t budge from 26k OTD. I walked.

It's worth $22k. I paid $24.5k 4 years ago for a fully-loaded '04 C5. Sure the C6 is a newer model, but your C6 is still a 13 year-old car. Since it's being sold by a dealer (mine was a private sale) tack on $5k to the asking price. So I'm guessing that the dealer wants $27k. It's a beauty though.

Thanks so much for your feedback... Im in total agreement - CORVETTE DNA stated its worth $23,000 (in EXCELLENT condition) which is exactly what I offered...which I thought was a fair and fact-based offer.

He's FIRM at $26,900 - so I walked...

Such a shame cause this C6 is super super clean, really low miles, and to twist the knife even further, my wife was BEYOND in love with it. I just can not spend $4000 over value on a 14 year old "toy". If we were $1000 apart, even $1500 I would just bite the bullet for her...but that amount is way too much.

FYI - She tried a few manual C6's and just was too nervous driving stick...so an auto is a must have for her.

That only matters if you're building it for big power. If you're buying it for your older wife to cruise around in and feel like she's driving a sports car, it isnt the best option.

If his "older wife" is happy just to cruise around with the top down and the wind in her hair, the 4 speed auto is probably just fine.

I think he's like 2k high. If the wife loves it, and you're 2k apart, this is a no brainer. Places like Vette DNA and KBB aren't that accurate, I would take their values with a grain of salt and remember they're always on the low side of the pricing curve (they're mainly targeted at buyers so of course they are).

Anyways, this will be unpopular but I think you should consider an XLR. If the wife doesnt care only about the speed, you get a good bit of it, with a bit more plush ride, and a hardtop convertible.

I did not get time to respond with my estimate before you revealed the dealer's number, but I can tell you that $23,000 is the absolute top dollar for that car if you are buying from a dealer. I have been shopping for a C6 convertible for several months, and have passed on a couple of pristine 2005s because I did not want the A4 transmission. I am re-thinking that now, by the way. I also am firmly convinced that I don't want Z51. I will tell you that in the past couple of weeks I have seen an absolutely show condition 2005 convertible with 35,000 miles, brand new tires and C7 Z06 wheels and MSRC sold for $22,700 including dealer fees, and a 30,000 mile 2005 convertible is for sale at around $20,300 in Miami. A yellow 2006 Z51 with miles in the low 30's was for sale at the local Chevy dealer at $24,995 for two months, and they couldn't sell it. It is now at the Jaguar dealer for $25,995. That convinces me that $23,000 is about right for the 2005.

That dealer is dreaming. He is NOT going to get $26,900 for that car. When it finally goes to auction he'll get much less, especially at this time of year. If he think's he's going to hang onto it over the winter and get his price in the spring, he is a fool.

The 4L65E is as good as any option out there and stronger than any auto ever installed in any year of C6.Never let a car you want slip away on you over a few thousand dollars.the car is basically as new.Your wife will love you for getting it for her and will be talking about all the great times she will have in her new car for many years to come.Give him $25,000. for it before some one else does!!!!

Nice low mileage Vette but I think that dealer is trying to hit you with the Vert tax!... Also, I would bet a large sum of $ that your wife could not tell the difference between A4 and A6... ridiculous
