Default I need battery help

so my battery is completely dead.. I went through 2 different batteries at pep boys, an optima yellow top and a Bosch premium power. Checked that they’re both for group 85 but neither one fit. The tray is SO much larger.

My old battery says diehard advanced gold pt# 50747

i have no idea what to do.. how are these so different? And how is one little screw with a washer supposed to hold down an entire battery

cars a base 08

Take your old battery with you and tell them you want a new one with the same specs, same size and same terminal locations as the old one.
The single bolt with the plastic block hold the battery just fine.

Tell them you want a battery for 08 Corvette Base model. That bolt, washer and plastic hold down secures it just fine. The plastic anchor fits over the side ribs on the battery so when you snug down the bolt it pulls down the plastic rib piece to the battery side rib tight to the tray. Been that same way for years on various cars. Have you not changed a battery before?

And it sounds like you need to make sure you don't have the famous Corvette parasitic battery draw problem when car is supposed to be shut down all electronics are "asleep." Unless your battery was just old, like 5 years or older.

Hold down should look like this. Unless "Buddy" pitched it on a previous battery swap. Never met Buddy? Buddyamine, Buddyomine. The melvin that shouldn't own tools. Buddyamine replaced the battery last month in my car.

Your battery wont' go anywhere without the plastic part cause of the cables but you want to get it corrected... and you can get the exact duplicate of the part advance auto for five bucks....and you need the equivalent of a Delco 85ps battery for the base car to fit correctly...The gs uses a different battery...it will sit in the tray but the hold down wont work with it... Get the right size and the plastic piece and the screw(may have to go to hardware store but google the size and you'll be fine.

good luck...

That battery is a Group 47 AGM .... L:9 11/16 W:6 7/8 H:7 1/2 CCA:600. AGMs are designed to last longer than regular Lead Acid batteries

The OE Group 85 is: L:9 1/16 W:6 13/16 H:8

You need the black plastic battery hold down clip. Go on one of the battery web sites and confirm what group battery you should have.
