Default New cam and header upgrade

I am looking to upgrade the cam and headers in my 2005 Z51 M6 or purchase a C7 Z06. Thoughts on where I would be best to spend my money. Am I going to sacrifice longevity and durability of the my C6 by making these changes. Would I be happier with the Z06 from a drivablity standpoint, as I am not planning to track the vehicle would just like a bit more fun.

Joe, welcome to the forum....that's a big step from a LS2 to a C7 Z06. A cam and headers will make a noticeable performance difference in your current car for a few thousand dollars, the Z06 will cost much more money, but the performance will be greater also. Question is, how fast do you want to go? Lol

You can swap the cam and add headers for sure (along with supporting c5R chain, dual springs, titanium retainers) and get to C6 Z06 performance. Depending upon your cam selection, you may need to perform spring maintenance every 25-30K miles. Cam lope and loud exhaust is tons of fun.

For the same money, but without altering the internals, you can add a TVS blower and headers and get within spitting range of C6 ZR1 performance. Zero additional maintenance. The low-end torque of TVS is amazing. This is the same type in the C7Z.

Obviously, for a **** ton more money you can exceed both with the C7Z.

Mods you make to your current ride will be much more rewarding and satisfying. C7 Z06s are a dime a dozen, where’s the excitement?
