Since I purchased the vehicle from a dealership in 6/16 do you think this is something they should have checked for?

The service bulletin 15682 addresses the repair any C6 Corvette that is less than 10 years old ( from the date that the vehicle was put into service ) and has less than 120,000 miles for the fuel smell

How does GM ever get away with this kind of crap. So you have a faulty part and you give people a very limited time to take advantage of it. Even though my car only has 43K miles on it I only had a year to figure this out and find the bulletin thanks to the folks here, not GM. Sad for the people that had an 07 that were put into service in 06 and may have not even qualified from the start as they were past the 10 year mark. Who writes these things. ugh so frustrated with GM using plastic parts on such important areas of the car. I just replaced the shifter cable a month ago because of a plastic part breaking.

10 years old is way outside of the warranty period, so they dont really have a big incentive to worry about it. By that point, it's the risk of buying a used car. It sucks, but that's why they offer extended warranties.
