May be the starter or the start button.

Even though it's a new battery did you check the voltage. I always put a new battery on a charger for a few hours before installing it.

Ok, working backwards: The last thing you did was change the battery so the problem is most likely something to do with that.

Loosen the terminal clamps a bit, wiggle sideways a few times, re-tighten and try to start it.

Curious, why did you change the battery if it was working fine?

Default preventive maintenance ...

Preventive maintenance is when the battery has used up its reliable service life and changed on time basis versus run to failure can have very bad consequences.

Did you clean the battery posts/connections? The reason I ask is because I recently replaced the battery on my riding mower and it had a grayish coating on the posts to prevent oxidation/corrosion. If it was left on it could cause a connection problem when the cables were installed.

That new battery could be low on charge, it could have been sitting around for a while

Don't laugh but...i had a friend get a new battery installed at a goodyear place, he had problems, called me to come check... This was still at the goodyear place...they had the wrong battery in the car, backwards polarity, positive to negitive... Fried a bunch of electronics... Hopefully this isnt your problem??

Maybe the other end of the battery cables need attention now. Bad / corroded connections at the far end might give you enough current to get some power, but not enough to crank the engine. The act of undoing the battery terminal connections and removing the battery must have moved the cables a bit, maybe just enough to break the connection at the far end?

Sounds like the crank relay is bad. #43 in the under hood fuse box. Switch it with the rear defog relay to check it.

Hey car-guy28... just a heads-up, the original post is from Nov. 2018, so a year old now... I assume he's found his problem since then.

hey my1970conv... Da, really? Many other members and enthusiasts read these old discussions in search for help in solving similar problems and issues. Just adding another possibility to check. I found this solution to my problem on a thread that was 8 years old. *** u me.

Created an account just to say that I had this issue today and it was the relay. Quick and easy fix. Bingo bango! Thanks.
