What to watch out for / 1st C6
Hey guys, I知 looking to buy my first C6, (I知 a long time C3 guy). I知 looking at a 2011 GS LT2, automatic. 53k miles.
Is there anything specific I need to be looking for? Any common issues or problems to watch for? Any common trouble issues?

My wife and I personally drove 4 or 5 different C6's and found different issues on each vehicle mostly small stuff i.e. ***** missing, heat and air mixer, windows not indexing, stuff prior owner or selling dealer not familiar with or not reading owners manual on how to reset or recalibrate some items. Just do a lot of research and don't go in blind.
Try to have more knowledge and operation know how about said vehicle than the seller, private sale or dealer. Now that being said someone who specializes in Corvette should know more and be very informative.
It takes more than just saying "HEY I WANT THAT" at the first thing you see. Because there is always going to be a better one down the road. Enjoy the hunt that's half the fun.

I would get the GMVIS report from ant dealer as well as a carfax for starters . Many have harmonic balancer issues. Mine was replaced at 18000 miles. Some have leaky oil pans. Your best bet is take it to a corvette specialist and have it checked out. You can also take it to the dealer to check out. Good luck

Biggest, maybe most expensive would be a visual inspection of the harmonic balancer.
Brakes & tires could also be expensive to replace.
Plug in a code reader to search for stored faults.
The rest is kind of hit or miss to visually see; so make sure all dash buttons/ lights/ headsup/ active handling function, request service records, coolant change done, AC module/ vent issues, fuel pumps.
Dealer could verify all recalls are done, such as the head light/ fuse box update.
Vettes are good cars, good luck.

Same as any other pre-owned car. Clean title, Car Fax, manufacturer service records, scan for any codes, take you time and do a full visual inspection which includes putting the car on the rack to inspect the underside. It would also help if you have someone that is familiar with Corvettes to help with the inspection and check service bulletin compliance. There are many very nice cars available in the fall so get exactly what you want, you are the one that will have to look at it every day so just make sure there is no buyers remorse.

hey jpm995.....I bought this one in B檀am, Al at Royal. Is that the one you were looking at? I致e looked at it several times prior to purchase and never found the windows fogged or with wet carpet . Hopefully it痴 going to be OK. Of course, it値l probably never see rain again now that it痴 in my garage. It痴 tucked in neatly beside my C3.

I would have the alignment checked by a qualified mechanic. C6 GS' are known to eat up tires if the alignment is off. Most people concentrate on camber but you want some camber. Toe out or too much toe in will eat up the tires in a heartbeat. Sounds like you have a good one. There is an extended warranty available if it hasn't been tuned if you desire it, GMEPP. My 13 has around the same miles and has been a great car. I had all the fluids changed as when I pulled out the cabin filter it was full of junk.
