Default 2005 hum caused by Nav screen.

I have a 2005 with factory Nav that's causing a Hum through the radio speakers. If I cut the screen off the noise stops, the hum happens even with the radio turned off. Has anyone had a similar problem?

No other mods to stereo?
Did the issue start suddenly; in other words not after some current mechanical/ electrical/ etc work
or after the insertion of a music CD or Nav disk?
Six disk player in trunk and activated XM or PAL system installed?

Are you saying, that the hum is constant, radio and nav on or off?
Then are you saying if you turn/ voice command "screen off" the hum stops?

Just a bump and I asked more questions for clarity.
You might wish to repost in the Stereo section of this forum.
Many more qualified members there than I too comment.

My only comment to help would be to suggest removing the unit for a deep dust cleaning.
As for trouble shooting, big project, perhaps remove speaker wiring connectors at the speaker,
one by one to see if the hum is generated by one of the speakers.
My guess comment is that a hum could be related to a Bose amplifier if not a speaker.
Good hunting and let us all know the reason/ cure.

Factory unit no mods. Doesn't seem to make any difference if Nav disc in in or out, the only way to get the hum to stop is to turn off screen.

I had the same exact issue except my hum only came from the passenger door speaker. I initially thought it was the Bose speaker amp so I swapped door speakers to confirm but the hum persisted on the passenger side. I went to an local radio installer and he spoke to a Bose tech. The Tech told him it was an internal radio issue which had to be sent out for repair, estimated cost $500. Fortunately my cousin just swapped out his Nav for aftermarket. I Installed his and had Chevy service marry it to my car (a lot less expensive). Problem solved for me but unfortunately for you, you may need to replace the unit or have it repaired. Hope that helps somewhat.

That sounds like my problem exactly. Where were you going to send off to?

The installer was going to send it out but I never got that far with the conversation. Ebay has a lot of used OEM units for sale back then when this was occurring, you might want to check, it might save you a few bucks.

I had a 05 nav I’ll sell you for $200 plus shipping. I just took the system out of my Vette last month, perfect condition. I replaced mine with a Kenwood so I could have apple car play
