I would have to agree that while an LS2 would work fine, the 08/09 would be a sweet spot...08 came with a few improvements. Impact to actual driving experience = TBD. However my best test drive so far was in a LS3. That could just be the condition of the car or perhaps a combination of car + attributes..

yes, couple of grand to add headers and tune depending on if you do any of the work! I chose 08 lt3, auto, z51. Added kooks headers, halltech cai, and tune. Making 412 HP at the wheels and now very happy. If you can stretch to an 08 year model for ls3 then I would highly recommend.

good deals are out there, bought my 11 GS triple black vert 3lt all stock 6m with 75k miles for 26500. 2 owner car, Take your time and test drive as many as u could but take the plunge when the right car comes along. Saw mine in a Ford dealer this june, test drove it ,sign the paper and took it home. Been grinning ever since.
