Not to high jack the thread, but I've been curious about upgrading Head unit. My main question is .... will the GPS on the HUD still work ? that really comes in handy for road trips.

No. The HUD will still function but you will not get turn/nav directions through the HUD. That is the one trade off. You get a lot of additional features and functions with a new head unit but lose the nav through HUD.

thanks! i assumed as much. that makes me lean more towards just adding blue tooth audio stream. unfortunately, 2006 didn't have that. Other than that, i think the stereo is decent (bose) but have considered adding a small sub. do the newer C6's have blue tooth audio pairing? if so, can I just swap a newer HU ?

I think with all C6's, bluetooth was only for phone calls.

My 13 3LT W/Navi....Bluetooth phone only, no Bluetooth tunes. It’s a daily reminder of why GM is in bankruptcy protection.

Got the new unit installed Wednesday afternoon. I called around to various shops, most were wanting $175-250 just for the labor to install. Found a shop with 4.8/5 stars, only charged $100, so I thought it was worth it at that price to just have somebody else do it. Took 1.5 hours, got it back, everything is great.

Thanks for the recommendations and help ITT!

I'm not sure; however, the sound is significantly better.

If its only a head unit that was changed, then yes the new head unit would retain the Bose amp to run the speakers.
