Sirius Xm - Is it worth it?

I had it for a while for free trial, and to me .... not even close to be worth paying for. I have a lot of friends that swear they cannot live without it but I found myself constantly changing stations trying to find something I wanted to listen to at that time. Maybe my problem is that I like too many different kinds of music. I'm planning to just add a bluetooth audio connection so I can listen to whatever I want, when I want directly from my phone. I can just connect to pandora (free version) or youtube and stream it. other than that, I just burn a CD of a mix and play it.

That the other thing that pisses me off about XM\Sirius....just read this thread and see how many people pay different amount for the same service...why can't everyone have the same rate without having to threaten cancelation. Having to play that game is BS.

I've had Sirus/XM for 13 years in both vehicles, pretty much all I listen to with an occasional CD. I call them once a year and cancel, they counter offer and I'm good for another year.

i'm guessing it's worth more to some than others. So, they let people "name their price" and odds are it's more than what they would get at a set price. Plus, a lot have automatic renewal and forget about it

I have it in all 3 of my vehicles plus another one for the house. I can't stand commercial radio stations so yes it's worth it to me.

I had it for awhile in a couple different vehicles but now use Pandora and Amazon Music. I found the renewal game to be a pain in the neck. More than enough choices with streaming music so for me it was not worth the hassle.

I have it in my DD Grand Cherokee Jeep but not the Corvette. I renewed last month for about $30 for six months. Just tell them you are going to cancel and they will really cut the price from the $235 per year they originally wanted.

I have SiriusXM and I enjoy it. However, I learned years ago to follow this set of rules:
1-I pay by credit card for a one time charge and require them to bill me annually. They do not keep my card for auto billing.
2-I enter the renewal date into my calendar and I call each year to cancel. This sends me directly to the cancellation section.
3-I review my latest bill with them which is about $238
4-I tell him that I am willing to renew at the $99 rate and he then ’confers with his manager’ (can you say used car dealer?)
5-I agree to $99 for another year. The cost with taxes and fees is $117.91
i have done this for years. This is worth the cost for me but I won’t pay more. If I were to replace my OEM unit that has streaming I wouldn’t use SiriusXM.

I like the service. Nice on the road to get consistent radio reception. I never give them my credit card and have them mail me an invoice every 6 mos or so and pay by check. Less than $40 for 6 mos including taxes and fees. Love the "oldies" music on a sunny day driving Corvette. Remember there are two kinds of people in this world. Those who drive Corvette and those who wish they could.
