FOB Issues
Hello,
I am having an issue with my car. Car will not start unless I use the FOB socket that's located in the glove box. car beeps when I press the lock button but it does not lock. Both key fob and car battery are new. Anyone know what is causing this?

Just a thought, could your fob be close to some electronic interference ie. Cell phone. I had a problem once with am FM transmitter, once I changed the frequency on the transmitter the problem was solved. Anyway just a thought

Just because it is a new-to-you fob battery does not necessarily mean it is a new battery. A lot of them lay around stores/warehouses for a long time. Cheap to try a second one from a different source (and you might try a different brand - the ones with etched backs do not always seat well in the fob) if you have not already done so.

Starting the car with the fob in the slot in the glove box means nothing. That slot will start the car even if the battery in the fob is dead.

Very strange. I always have my fob in my left pants pocket, and my cell phone in a pouch on my belt and never had a problem. They are much closer than a foot together. What kind of phone is it?

Marinablu 67 - I have an I phone 6 plus. Had the same issue with my previous I phone. If it is sitting in my ProClip, no issue.
Regarding batteries, GM dealer was pricey, so I bought 5 for $3.99 on Amazon and got free shipping. Just a thought.

I just replaced the battery in mine FOB yesterday, after getting the "no fob detected" prompt.
as soon as I clipped the remote closed, the trunk popped open. I closed it, then it opened again.
I went through the re-sync in the manual, and it's been working fine ( car off, open the trunk with the key, then turn the
key 5x. then within 5 seconds, install FOB in glove box slot. I waited for about 10 seconds. so far, it's been working like new.
FOB #2 I thought I ruined after a ran it through the washer. after not using it for a few months, installed a new battery,
re-sync'ed it yesterday, it's working too!

Well, It seems like the problem is low battery voltage or something that is causing my battery to drain. I did a parasitic drain test with a dmm and got .030a-.040a seem alright or is it to much? 08 z06

If you had 'Low Battery Voltage' then why did you car even start using the slot??...I've had low voltage problem many times...But the fob still worked without using the slot.....Note: Your amp draw is very good.I wish my was that low.

Reprogramming a fob is the absolute last resort, and trying to do so, will usually cause more problems.
If the fob starts in the glove box slot, it doesn't need to be reprogrammed. A battery change does not require reprogramming .
