Yeah, but you live in New Mexico. Nobody cares about New Mexico.

Plus, you drive a ZR1. We'll let you slide.

Carbon Monoxide is odorless. That's one of the reasons it's so dangerous. Odorless and colorless, you realize you have carbon monoxide poisoning when you wake up with a bad case of being dead.

I think the point here is that what he did was pointless.

Every combustion car produces Carbon Monoxide

Default Cats clean CO2 not CO, will always have carbon monoxide in the combustion process

The bigger issue may be whether the ecm will accurately control the fuel ratio for fuel mileage and efficiency. Those that run race headers and x pipes are doing the same thing.

We are smelling the sulfur dioxide. Carbon Monoxide is odorless and the results of C.M. poisoning can be lethal.

However, catalytic converters reduce the toxic gases to a much lower level of toxicity.

I agree with that although in an enclosed area, any gas produced other then O2 will cause death if enough is produced. I really don’t agree with removing the cats but there is no reason to jump all over this guy. Not saying you did. I wouldn’t exactly call a Corvette a clean emissions car to start with. Tons of vintage cars on these forums with no emissions at all.

Wow. Just, wow.

My Vette stinks quite a bit more than a Prius. And, a **** ton more than a Tesla. So did my Trans Am when I was 17. Reagan was President and a lot of today’s bullshit didn’t exist.

I was in China back in 2005, and every new car in Shanghai and Beijing had EFI and cats.

Three-way cats address CO, HC, and NOx - all of which are local pollutants. That stuff goes into your neighbors' lungs. What they do in China or the developing world with regards to cats hardly reaches us.

I'm not disagreeing, I just think there are bigger thing to worry about than a modern American car taking its cats off, and those things are happening in China and the developing world.

Frankly, if Brazil stopped slashing down the rainforest we'd be in a totally different place co2 wise.

I completely agree. I created a header post and mentioned my desire to remove my cats permanently, but a few members here defended the use of cats. I have not idea why. It's just very strange to me - we own a muscle car, but people want to retain emission controls?
"Wow, a 1970 Chevelle SS? You should install some high-flow cats!"
"Hey John Force, I think you need to install some cats on your funny car. It will be so much more efficient and quieter."
I know of 2 situations where cats got clogged, and created havoc for the engine.
Defense of cats on a muscle car is completely bizzarre to me.
If I had the money and time, I would immediately and permanently remove mine also.
