Congrats on a beautiful GS!
Yes, I sanded down the rail covers with 320 grit sand paper until they were smooth. I then applied 2 coats of sanding primer. Then sanded with 1500 grit paper to get as smooth as possible again. Then applied 3 coats base color to make sure they were completely covered. Then 3 coats of gloss clear. I wiped them with a tack cloth before applying the color and clear coats. The only problem was that I ordered Bluestream Tintcoat 512Q in a spray can on AutomotiveTouchUp, which I thought would be an exact match for Jetstream Blue. However, they turned out a tad bit darker. But since they aren't right next to another body color part, it's not as noticeable when installed on the engine. I was proud of the paint job I did though. I got the black stick on letters from RPI Designs.

Looks terrific! Did you paint the calipers yourself? If so, where did you get the decal? Love the red.

Yes, I painted them with the G2 caliper paint kit and I got the decals from Fourth Circle Designs (www.fourthcircledesigns.com). I sprayed high-temp clear over the decals to make sure they stay in place.

My dealer had an '08 JSB Z06, 2LZ w/ GPS (hey) & 10 spoke chromes.
Sat for over 14 months unsold, wasn't sure how I felt re JSB coming from a string of red.
Then came GM's crash, dealer had to be thinking they'd have to eat this one.
So while buying a CTS4, asked what they'd discount the '08 & offer on my '06.
Wife drove home CTS, I the Z06 that day.
JSB's grown on me a lot since, getting it just dumb luck.

Looks great, did a good job w/ cals & coverts.
Lived 9 yrs in cent IL (Chambana) & fondly remember all the long state highways through beautiful countryside.
Best of all, very few if any cops.

That's the way it was when I bought it. I didn't even realize it was missing. Oh well, hasn't been an issue. Thanks for pointing it out.

i only mention it because they become damaged when people park the car on a curb. the lower radiator support will get damaged and push up on the upper support.... worth a look
