I don't mind driving mine in the rain if I have to, but as much time as I spend to keep it as clean as possible, I sure try to keep that black vehicle in the dry as much as possible strictly from an aesthetic and cleaning aspect.
Went on a 2500 mile trip this summer with my wife and it rained every single day. The car survived believe it or not.

when I drive from PA to deals gap this summer, it rained most of the trip there. I usually wouldn't drive my vette in the rain unless I had to but ...... my son and I had planned the road trip to get him back to fort brag. He drove separate in his 2011 WRX. it was a good time~

To answer your question, it depends. If it's a light rain and the Corvette has been exposed for less than an hour, AND (very important!) it is thoroughly washed and dried immediately, you are generally ok. However, if the rain is heavy or the car experiences more than 1 hour of uninterrupted rain, it will melt, and CarFax will definitely pick that up.
