New and looking to buy first Vette.

New and looking to buy first Vette.
Been a huge fan of Vettes but never owned one. I really like the looks of the 2013 Anniversary 327 1SC, white with blue racing stripes.
My question is does anyone here own one? Thoughts?
Secondly, what is everybody’s thoughts on that car as a daily driver?

I dont have a 2013 427 convertible, but I have a Z06...same engine. I dont really think you will enjoy daily driving this car if its anything like the Z06. Its a convertible, so I'm not exactly sure what kind of ride you will get. The Z06 has stiffer suspension, so it makes the ride a little rougher. Other than that, its a great car. Good luck.

I think that the car is more enjoyable if it is not daily driven, but that's just me.

If you aren't going to drive it, no point in having it unless you are a collector. Daily driving a C6 isn't nearly as bad as some make it out to be, and if that is something you are seriously looking at, I say go for it. That said, if you have another vehicle for bad weather or low temps/snow/ice then the Vette makes a perfectly capable vehicle. Some people even throw on winter tires and use them year round. Not something I would recommend if you get snow in the cold season, but it's doable.
For reference, I daily a 2006 C6. Not sure what the 427 does regarding gas mileage, but when it was stock my LS2 was putting down 15 - 20mpg city driving and 28 - 32mpg highway, which was fantastic. With the current work I have done which includes a 402 the mileage has dropped a bit so Im looking at closer to 10-15mpg city but still a respectable 24-28mpg highway. A must after I purchased it was replacing the seat foam, adding a Blendmount for a Valentine 1, and replace the headunit with an Apple Carplay/Android Auto unit.

Your asking the same question as I thought of 2 yrs ago. The 427 1SC are incredible cars an could cost you a hefty price tag , its depends if you can justify cost of it an being a daily driver an the maintenance to go along with it . I picked up a 88 C4 to use as a my daily driver to keep the miles off mine. Maybe look into a grand sport edition. That could be a less expensive option an end up with a auto an paddles

I guess it depends upon what you call a daily driver. I would like to think I daily Drive mine but only on the days the weather is nice and the roads are clean. The 427 vert would be a fairly expensive daily driver if you were going to put a lot of miles on. I don't put on 4000 miles a year so it doesn't matter for me. My car averages about 22 miles per gallon. It's good for about 28.5 on the highway, though I really haven't spent enough time on the highway to get good numbers. It might be higher than that. My C5 got 33.2. I suspect that is entirely due to the 5.7 L vs 7 L engine. The final drive ratios are the same so it's not in the Driveline.
depending upon which Wheels you have, there are no all season tires available for the car. So you might be buying wheels and tires if you expected to drive this in any kind of conditions. I think you'd be insane to do so but it's no skin off my ***. My car has 19 x 10 + 20 by 12 rims with 285 and 335 tires they're only available in uhp summer. So if you're going to drive it somewhere that you drive in snow, you can forget this car.

Love my 13 Grand Sport, which has more than enough power for the street.

I'd drive mine every day if the weather would cooperate for what it is, the gas mileage is great and the fun is even better.
Maybe i'm just lazy, but for a daily driver I prefer the automatic. Had a 2006 Z06 a few years ago and I LOVED the car, but shifting got old back & forth to work when I'd catch 10-15 red lights one way.....

You wont enjoy the car if worrying about its value is something youd do. The 427 will be a collector car, but isnt likely to be a million. dollar car.
My dad had a 993 he got right before their prices went nuts. He loved it until they spiked in price. After that he felt like he couldn't drive it for risk of someone hitting it or the miles reducing its value. He eventually sold it because he never ever drove it.
If that's something that would bother you, buy one with higher miles already so it isnt a collector candidate.

In general decide the color and equipment that you want, then go find it. There are so many great cars available in every configuration and many with very low mileage. Always remember cost is not the best measure, it is how much you love the car because you are the one that will look at it every day so don't set yourself up for buyers remorse just because you got a good deal.

You will absolutely love the 427! As a DD it would depend on your expectations. The adjustable suspension is supple enough. All anniversary cars came with the CF aero package. My car has it as well and it scrapes on everything. I plan on buying a cheap repop just to avoid destroying the factory piece. Plan on $1500 or so for a set of tires. I would also plan on getting a new head unit and front and rear cameras...... splitter vs. parking curb....... parking curb wins. I DD corvettes back in my 20's, but now I DD a Silverado so I don't have to constantly avoid dips, potholes, parking curbs, etc. and if I get a door ding it isn't the end of the world.
