Do I need a new transmission or is this a shift solenoid? Or something else?
I have a 2005 c6 corvette automatic. It drives normally in the 1,2, and 3 selections on the gearbox but when I put in in drive the car acts as if it’s in neutral. The gearshift still moves in and out of park easily. I can drive it in either 1, 2, or 3 on the gear selector just fine and once I reach about 40-45mph I can shift into drive and the car picks up 4th gear and overdrive normally and continues to drive normally until I slow down or stop (unless I shift back down). I was told that since it seems as if all of the gears are “still there” that it must be a computer or electrical issue and was told to check the shift solenoids. The dealer is saying it’ll be $1200 for them to get into the transmission alone. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
