This unit is on sale near me and while this upgrade wasn't on my radar (so I'm out of touch with the details), I would definitely enjoy it.
TIA
Cameras that work with what ? You need to be more specific.

Sorry, I was referring to the AVH-601EX as installed by the OP.

No worries on the camera bit actually - I've sorted that one out. Subbed for more info/thoughts on this unit though.

most cameras will work with a head unit, it has the standard yellow plug end to plug into your receiver, you will need to wire in the power source

I wired the Pyle cameras like this
Rear- powered from tapping into the reverse light wires so it comes on when put into reverse
Front- I powered the red line running with the yellow video cable tapped into the center cigarette lighter and then I wired the black ground to a bolt below and in front of the Alternator.

How did you route the front camera wires? Is there a way through the firewall there?

I came up the drivers side, unscrewed the triangular piece by the door next to the wipers and lifted off. Routed the wires underneath that, opened the door and up high on the frame you will see the rubber gasket has a seem where the 2 pieces of gasket meet, I pulled out the lower part a little then fed the wires through, then pushed the gasket back in, then under the dash and up into the center where the stereo is. I used an electrical fishing wire from inside where the stereo is down to the pedals and taped the wires on and pulled up into the center. If you want I can take pics

Thanks. I think I can manage from your description. I have an older Kenwood in my 08 and I'm about to install a new one (DNX574S). I already have a rear camera with the current unit, but would like to add the front one for parking. The best thing for me is that the wiring harness is the same from the old unit to the new one (according to Crutchfield), so other than adding the front camera, it will be plug and play (I have no steering wheel controls either). Besides all the great features of the new unit, I'll finally have bluetooth (the bluetooth add-on module for my old unit is no longer available, could not even find a used one on eBay). Enjoy your new setup, looks great!

Yeah I love the blue tooth and streaming, but the sound difference from the stock stereo to this one amazes me. Also was pretty cheap as I don't need Nav in the Vette.

Great install on your Pioneer! I installed an AVIC-8200NEX in my 2013 Grand Sport about two years ago. It was a real adventure tearing the car apart to get things in. Everything went well except I was never really satisfied with how I had the rear camera mounted and I ultimately removed it because I thought it looked ugly...

I really like how you have your rear camera mounted and wondered what model your Pyle camera is and where you purchased it? Also, could you share any details about how you mounted it since that was my greatest problem. Thanks so much and enjoy!

While you're describing mounting the rear camera, could you also describe the front? Is it on the grill with double sided tape or mounted mechanically somehow?

I used body molding mounting tape to put it under the lip to the left of the rear keyhole. I will look at the model # of the Cameras when I get home and post up. My wife purchased them for me, will ask where she ordered from.

Same for the front the auto body molding mounting tape, in the center under the lip of the opening in front of the egg crate grill. It has a bracket that you can screw to the body, I chose the tape route, I have used it in the past and it sticks great. Just need to make sure you clean really well with alcohol. I fished the wire through the grill, I put it inside the high temp split loom in pic below, it protects the wires.

Thanks mcandrew. Can't wait for better weather up here in the north country. It's -3F here now with horrible wind chill.

that sucks been watching all the weather up north on the news. One of the reasons I stay in south Florida. Stay warm up there.
Just FYI on the cameras I saw where someone installed a C7 factory backup camera. You remove the key slot in the back and it fits in there perfectly. Then you move the key slot to one of the holes next to it. Looks factory on the C6

Very cool on the C7 camera! I'll definitely check that out. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah the weather's a drag. Spring can't come soon enough.

A couple more questions if you don't mind.
1) Why did you choose to run the front camera wire to the driver's side vs. the passenger side?
2) Where is your bluetooth microphone mounted?

Thanks!

I myself ran mine up the passenger side then through a harness penetration behind the battery. I ran the wire for my microphone under the dash then behind the pillar on the drivers side and mounted the mic by the Onstar mic.

That was just the way I found to go in easily, I am sure you can go both sides, the camera is in the middle of the car so it's the same distance to the stereo either way you go in.
I did as madsonp did put the Mic in the same place.
