I too have a four-post lift and will be changing the oil myself. The meter still has 75% left so it will be a few miles yet before I get to change it for the first time since buying it last June.

Me too
LS2: Whatever major name-brand Dexos Gen 2 5W-30 is available (Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, etc.) plus 1/2 quart Amsoil Z-rod for extra ZDP. AC Delco UPF44 filter. I stocked up on the UPF44 filters when I got the car, and they all say "Made in USA."

Always change my own. Cheaper, known parts, and know its done right. Takes less time than taking it somewhere.
I have used castrol syntec 0w40 euro oil the last few changes. Much less carbon on the exhaust tips vs m1 5w30.
Filter: ac delco gold, mobile 1, depends on what high quality filter i can get on sale.
put all the service info in mychevrolet.

I just did mine this weekend Mobil 1 and Wix filter
I've been buying my oil off amazon or at Costco but i went to Walmart this weekend....since when do they put mobil 1 oil behind a locked display? The sales guy told me they put gold flake in the oil so they have to lock it up but all the 1 quart mobil 1 oil is on the shelf...IDK...seems weird.

Drifting
Taking the time to lift the car is the most challenging part of the job. But that inconvenience is much more tolerable than wondering what some knucklehead in a shop is possibly doing wrong. That's why I'll keep changing my own.

If you get a set of Race Ramps or a Quickjack the lifting part becomes easy making the job kinda fun! What was a hassle no longer is. As long as you can read a dipstick(which some on this forum can't), this job is easy.

5-30 royal Purple and filter on both GM's and like a lot of other it costs me more in disposal fee's to do it myself than to supply my mechanic with the oil and filter. I just cant complain my truck has 230,000 and counting she still runs strong, so for me why change.

Disposal fees? I dump the oil off at any big Auto Parts chain for no fee. I wait until my 5 gallon drum is full. No extra trips. But whatever works for you.
