Default Correct Wheel color

I have 2008 base Coupe A6 with Z51 Option. The build sheet say's "QG7 Polished Aluminum Wheels" (R6K Processing Code )and wanted to repaint the inside gray color. Anybody know the paint code or the correct color for theses wheels. Thanks in advance Jeff.

The QG7 wheel is completely polished and clear coated. There is no paint applied to the wheel barrel from the factory.

A chrome wheel of that style does have the barrel painted.

The wheels are supplied from an outside vendor to GM. there is no GM paint code. What you can do is find a grey ceramic brake caliper paint that is close to the OEM color. The barrels must be completely clean before painting and free of any oils or dirt. After cleaning wipe them down with a degreaser before painting.

I always believed the polished forged wheels had the barrels to match. it is the chrome wheels that were not plated. As mentioned there is on paint code for the barrels. Have you pulled the wheels off and tried to really clean them? If so and they are still gray, I would just go to an auto parts store and look at the different gray automotive rattle cans and find something close.

Consider painting those barrels black instead of grey.

they are still gray. I’m second owner and the wheels were never removed just to clean them. They were steam clean by a detailer before I purchased the car. They will clean up but there are some scratches I want to clean up. Thanks I guess I’ll get some rattle can gray that match’s. I pull the wheels to clean inside of the wheels and wells about every 1000 miles or so. Only a fair weather driver gotta be 60 and above no rain. I think the wipers work lol.
