what's the oldest Corvette you've own or driven

It's an L-88 hood, used on L-88's that raced. The hood can be used with or without the "air box." It mounts to the under side of the hood, when the hood closes it sits atop this special L-88 air cleaner assembly. Inside the "air box" a foam air filter is mounted.
Here's what the air cleaner assembly looks like. Cold air is sucked via the rear of the hood directly into the carb.. Really only beneficial at speeds above 80m mph.

My brother had a 1965 that he was generous and allowed his kid brother (me) to drive. He still has a Corvette today. My first Corvette was a1973 L 82.

The first one I ever drove was an early '70's off-white coupe.
I was 14 and was doing my part at a church youth group carwash in Anaheim, CA. For the life of me, I never understood why this guy let a bunch of kids wash his Baby, but he did, which is bad enough.
If that wasn't bad enough, we had this set up in in a rinse wash rinse/dry park scenario, and being good Lutherans, there were donuts for the owners while we ruined their paint. He immediately headed to the refreshment stand, and no one wanted to move this car to the next station.
So I volunteered. I kind of knew how. I mean, I knew sort of how a clutch worked. I got it to the dry station, and if memory serves me well, I didn't even stall it. Came close, though. It was only a hundred feet away.
The oldest I've owned? I still do. '05 Vert with 249,850 miles on it, and let me tell you, I would just give the donation to the youth group, and never let them touch it. No Freaking Way!!!!

A buddy of mine's dad was a antique car restorer. For high school prom, we got the use of a '57. Three of us wouldn't fit in it, so I got to drive it around the parking lot and then went with other friends. Next was a '65 that I rented from Exotic Car Share in Chicago, and drove my father on his dream trip from Chicago down route 66 several years before he passed. We got as far as Tulsa. Then my own '07. They each had their charms- the '57 cool factor at a high school grad in 1983 was awesome. The '65's freedom factor can not be denied. The '07 is my personal get away car, so I'll hear no bad words on that one. LOL.

Owned a '64 Silver Blue roadster with a white top in the early 70's. Dark blue interior. 327/300, 4sp, and factory side pipes. Power nothing,, so a beast to drive in the city. Different story on the open road. To me, the c2 body style ties with the c6 for looks, but strangely, if I could get a 2nd vette right now,, I'd be looking for a '62. Sadly, no pic of the '64 can be found.

My friends had a 65 coupe and a 66 Vert. I especially loved that Vert . I was looking for a new 1970 Vert . But decided to get an engagement ring and a 1970 Charger R/T. Big mistake as I should have got the Vette as we eventually divorced!

First was a new '72. In 1974 I found a '63 swc that had always been my dream car, 4 spd, factory a/c, Sebring Silver, $3500. Sold it in 1980 for $4500. Big mistake.

A friend of mine had either a 66 or 67 427/425 HP 4 speed convertible back in the day. It was pretty tired but when I nailed it, all hell broke loose. The *** end squatted down and the front end jumped up in the air and it pulled like crazy. I let off at 3rd gear. It was a real experience. My Father almost traded his 1966 Sunbeam Alpine for it but the deal fell through! That Vette did feel kinda like a truck to me.....although a fast truck! LOL!!

I've owned and driven a 60', 62', 63'SWC, 66' and now own since new an 07'.
i sold the 66' in 1973 when the gas crises drove the prices way high.
I wish that I still had the first four!

Members 62, no issue with attention lapse....lots of character.
Remember a lot of disappoinment with a 73 I bought. That was the slowest v8 car Ive owned...real bummer is they were all cramped including 2 C4s.
They are still a lot of fun for fair # but just dont ring all the bells.

Bought a POS ‘62 while in high school (1968). It had been drag raced and abused big time. Fenders cut out, hole in hood for injector stacks, etc. guy stuffed a 283 in it to sell. Bought on a Friday, called insurance co on Monday, returned on that day. Insurance was more than I paid for the car

I use to own a 1968 Coupe 327, a 1959 Fuelie and a 67 427-435 Coupe back in the late 80s, along with an original 1970 Boss 429 hemi, paid about $10,000.00 each for them at the time. Sold them in the early 90s for around $15,000.00 each after going through a divorce. Later a 63 Fuelie Convertible in 2012. Today I have a 2010 Z06. Miss them all today but very satisfied with the C6 Z06.
