Default Why Do Members Find It Necessary To Post Explicit Details Of Their Car When Replying

For example: There could be a thread about map lights and people that respond will say I have a 08 Z51 6spd and bla bla bla. So what, what bearing does that have on the subject matter. By pointing that out is that supposed to give you more credibility in your response? I just never understood this.

So others can start threads about it. Understand, man?

Oh yeah, I've got a 2013 GS in Cyber Grey with paddles on the inside wheel.

Don't know about other's but the only time I include any 'specifics' about mine is when I think it could have an impact on the discussion; for example, if someone asks a question about handling or ride, I'll include the fact I have the Z51 package. Haven't really paid too much attention when other's have included 'specifics' when reading their replies.

I think if they have a similar car or set up its kind of like credentials, especially if its modded a bunch. If you mod a car there almost always growing pains that go along with it, issues that arise. I think its like saying I'm in the same boat and have been there and done that. 2006 base model, cammed, blown, methanol spraying, parachute having, 750 wheel hp all American shitbox.

but you failed to mention the year or color. Those are vital details that must be included.

By the way I have ‘12 GS. It’s white, has an automatic transmission. NPP exhaust. Lol

Exactly. When the discussion is about, led lighting, nav radios, power window problems, etc...who gives a rats *** if you have a 08 Z51 6spd when you reply to discuss led lighting.

Because some feel it's helpful to the discussion, some are bragging, and some are just plain nuts......

Very interesting and I dont know why people do that.

btw I have a 131k miles since new 2008 black c7 targa glass roof and a short throw mgw shifter. I put in a COW booster and cow tune about 40k miles ago and my corvette also has an air raid intake. I put c7 z51 19 and 20 inch rims on as well. I have bilstein shocks,. THe car was a 1Lt and I had the HID installed at carlise five years ago when the DSv D shaped sterring wheel installed.

have a sense of humor. Life is too short to let nonsense bother you.

find the good in life and enjoy.

btw right now I have 18/19 inch snow tires on as I use my corvette as a daily driver and I can wait until april so I can put my summer wheels and tires back on.

the reason why people describe their corvette most probably is because we all share a common interest.

Yeah that's pretty accurate.

As far as I can tell, it's mostly the guys who treat their Z51s like they're a separate C6 model, and there are usually a couple guys quick to correct them.

Regardless, it's better than the threads we also see, generally by noobs, functional illiterates, geriatrics (or a combination of those), who post something like "My car don't shift right, what's wrong?" and then get bent out of shape when you ask simple questions like auto or manual, mods, etc.

In my previous life as a service writer I found it was always better for someone to give too much information rather than me having to pull teeth to try to get someone to form a complete sentence. Too many stories to even start.
