What can I expect the cost to be to replace my windshield on my 2007 coupe, from those who have had it done. Is it best to have the dealer do it?

Make sure to request a GM windshield, not a cheaper knock of brand. They also have a different glass if it has a heads up display.

Most auto insurance policies cover windshield replacement. Is there something unique to your situation that prevents you doing that?

I'd sure stay out of the dealership.

Generally the dealerships farm this work out to local glass shops anyway.

Go to any auto glass specialty shop. Like Safelite or American Eagle or others. There are two choices: 1) with heads up display or 2) without it. Several of my friends have replaced theirs with the non-HUD even though they have the HUD, and are quite happy. Plus its a lot cheaper. Of course IF your insurance is paying then go for the best.
