I was hoping the same thing as I mentioned in my thread starter. When I first heard the noise I said to myself I bought this car new and only has 26k well cared for babied miles, it has to be something belt related this motor is bulletproof. Nobody wants to think the worst, now I am not so sure.

That's a problem because it will probably come back worse than when it went in. These are only two Chevy dealers near me both unreliable. There is a company I can tow the car to that specializes in Corvettes. Let me try to get a diagnosis first before the car goes anywhere.

I don't know where you are in NY, but if you are on Long Island you can go to a few of the really good reliable shops. JTM Motorsports. I had my work done by them. Great place.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh Boy ....
Before taking your car to a dealership or independent shop to have it looked at ... Simply remove the belt and then start it ... If the noise is gone with the belt off, you have just eliminated the need to tear into the engine.
Look for a video on YouTube that shows you how to remove the belt ... it is stupid easy

But to take it off simply unbuckle it, grasp the buckle and pull it through the loops.

I lost count on how many replied lifter, but sadly 99% sure that's the issue, there is history of the LS engines with this problem.

He can always take the belt (or valve cover) off and hope to find its something else.
This seems to be a problem on the ls line (trucks too) what the heck is going on with GM QC?

I heard his great advice the first time, no need to belittle me, I just did not have a chance today.
I really hope this is it.
That seems to be in the mix, sure would be great if it is.

So let me just say you guys have been great with the replies, very informative. I have had two long time mechanics listen to the video today and both immediately said it was a pulley. Am I taking that as gospel, absolutely not, the belt I know has got to be pulled to go further and hoping to do it tonight. I have a very good buddy coming over tonight who is a big Mopar motor head from the days and a Dodge service writer for the last 30 years, he will give it a listen. To all the people who belittle me about the belt, I just am not comfortable with my self putting it back on even though I am somewhat mechanically inclined. My expertise is rebuilding car axles and driveshafts and have been doing it part time for a friends company for the last 20 years. I could do it blindfolded. So don't make fun of me about the belt when I am sure none of you could rebuild a axle that I find extremely easy, just the way you find the belt easy. It works both ways and doesn't help this thread.

Oh Boy, everyone has their specialty for sure and mine is/was engine rebuilding in the past. I've heard this noise many of times, here on the forum and on some of the youtuber's postings, and as you describe the lack of pinning down the squeaking noise, others have had the exact same problem with locating it because it's so deep inside the lifter valley. I bet if you had someone take one of the valve covers off, the noise will be more apparent when running. For your sake, I hope I'm wrong, good luck.

Ok diagnosis complete, sorry to say it is the lifters. I had my good buddy come over and he knew right away. So we did pull the belt and the noise was still there. We didn't pull the ac belt but at that point we didn't feel the need to. And btw yes the belt was real easy as you guys mentioned. So I will be calling JTM motorsports (who sent me a PM earlier as they must have seen this thread) and Vette Doctors to make the best arrangements. Thanks for all the replies.
