Default Cabin air filter

Admitting that I am not an ASE savant, but installing one of these OEM cabin air filters is really a leap of faith! A square peg in a round hole! But I am missing the point here. If you are worried about mice, check your CAF from time to time. Mice love these things!

Fortunately a 22-second job to check it. Gotta pull the glove box on the old Jeep to get to that one.

Am I missing something here? The cabin air filter is located on the passenger side fire wall.

The op original post was about a cabin air filter, a square peg in a round hole as he says, what car should I think it is on a corvette forum?

No, you're right. The other guys were talking about non-Corvettes, for some unknown reason.

And I've never found a mouse in one either. Somehow, I feel left out.

Sorry the thread got too complicated for you old-timers.

The OP's point was to check your cabin filter.

My reply, and others, was to simply state that fortunately the C6 cabin filter is easy to access for inspection.....as opposed to other vehicle that require some disassembly to reach.

IMO if it was mice, you would see other signs of them around. Stolen insulation/rags/towel remnants tucked here or there, hidden nuts, turds all over the place, etc.

I have leaves in my filter too, but I don't think it's anything more complicated than it sucks up whatever is in the air at that point.

How did the rodent get in there in the first place. Where is the intake for the CAF ?
And there was debris on the motor.
All vacuumed and cleaned and checked before starting.

Which way do you install the cabin air filter with the arrow facing up or down?

Default Caf

Sorry guys. Don't do pics. Please believe an old Marine, when I say that mice made a home in the CAF in our GS. The little rodents can get in through some pretty small cracks. New CAF installed. Living in the boonies is an open invitation to every mouse in the section. Corvette spends the Winter in car capsule. Safe and sound!
There it is. Semper fi

How do mice get anywhere? They just do.

Sneaky little bastids. They do love the cabin air filter for some reason.

If you think chewing on the CAF is something, wait till they start on the wires.

I have two eight foot 2x2's, and four four foot 2x2's. I have dryer sheets stapled to the 2x2's, the eight foot go along the sides and two four foot 2x2's front and back making a dam around the car. I change the sheets in the spring when I get the car out and fall when I put it away for the winter. The last few years I have done this I have found no mice intrusions in the car. I also keep a good supply of mice candy around the garage as well.

yeah, air filter would be the least of my worries, mice can cause electrical nightmares. Where I store my car for the winter, there is a stray cat that likes to sneak in on cold nights and sleep back in some of my old covers, i let him stay, we have an understanding, you keep mice away, you can stay just dont **** too much. he seems to understand.
