C7 Owner With C6 Questions
Good evening, C6 fans!
I own a 2017 Stingray that I bought new in February of 2017. It is my first Corvette and I am pleased with it so far. My C6 question pertains to a used C6 that my girlfriend is considering buying sometime soon. It is a 2010 Grand Sport coupe with a six-speed manual transmission, one owner (he passed away last year & his widow is selling the car because she cannot drive a stick-shift), garage kept, about 30k miles, etc., etc. He was a member of my Corvette club and everyone vouches for the condition and care of the car.
I saw the car parked outside (at night) and it does look quite good. It is a bright blue color (not far from the C7 Laguna Blue) with two red "hash marks" on the left front fender, chrome wheels, larger cross-drilled brake rotors, side "gills" behind the front wheels, etc. It is the exact color that my girlfriend is looking for - and it has a manual transmission. What we found to be kind of a turn-off was the interior. It is black (of course), but the seats have tan "inserts" which (in our opinion) detract from the look of the car. Is this something that is unique to the Grand Sport trim level? Is it a feature that comes with ALL Grand Sport coupes? Would this kill the urge for any of YOU to purchase this car?
Does the 2010 Grand Sport have the 'dry sump' oil system as with the C7 cars? Heads up display? I don't know as much about the C6 cars as I do about the C7s. My girlfriend actually likes the looks & lines of the C6 better than the C7 and currently has an Audi TT coupe..........not quite a 'Vette, but is still a quick little car with all-wheel-drive that comes in handy during the winter months.
Thanks for any replies or comments!!

The 2-tone interior is an option, not standard on GS. It would not stop me from buying a really nice GS if the price was right.
The GS with manual trans is a dry sump. The auto gets the standard set-up.
HU display is an included with the 3LT trim level, and I believe the 2LT level, as well. You can easily check the RPO codes by looking at the sticker inside the glove box. If the car has heated seats with the memory option, it is a 3LT.
The Audi is a nice, sporty car with pretty good performance. I like the Audi AWD. I don't know if she has put enough miles on it to experience the high cost of maintenance/repair. You probably know by now that the Vette is very basic...lots of cubes, sound engineering, low operating cost.
Others will give you more info.

The C6 manual grand sports (coupes) had the dry sump. The HUD was an option, so you’ll have to check the RPO codes.
I can’t speak to the seats,, My 2012 have black and titanium gray seats. I’m not sure how Black and Tan would look. What color is the carpet?
best of luck to youn and your girl friend

Look at the RPO codes on the extreme left inside of the glove box door. RPO codes that start with a number (like 3LT) will be listed last .

We only saw the car last night - exterior only - since it was locked. My girlfriend and I are going to look at it again Monday afternoon/evening and will likely take it for a test drive. Knowing the car's history (complete with the records, maintenance, etc.), it would probably make for a great used C6 and have a lot of good years remaining in it. We will also be able to look inside the glove box for build codes, etc., etc., and we know that the owner's widow has the build sheet, window sticker, owner's manual and all paperwork at her house. We actually spoke to her in person on Friday evening.
My girlfriend's 2016 Audi TT has been a great car - so far - and she has well over 40k miles on it. She plans to keep it, of course, as her "daily driver" whether or not she buys a Corvette for a weekend car. The TT is fairly good in poor weather, even though it has summer tires on it. If the need arises, she can borrow her retired mother's SUV in order to drive in heavy snow.
Thanks for the replies!!

Melting Slicks
2010 3LT and 4LT got the HUD
2011 3LT and 4LT got it
2012 2LT, 3LT, and 4LT got it
2013 2LT, 3LT, and 4LT got it
Of course it could be added after delivery to the lower trim level cars because the wiring is already there.

I would imagine that most GS's were ordered well optioned.
Changing out the seat skins isn't too expensive. Ridies (vendor here) has any option you want.

Arguably one of the best colors for the C6, but then again I'm biased. If it is JSB, the RPO is 85U.

Two tones seats with the fender hash marks mean it have the optional heritage pack

2020 C6 of the Year Winner - Modified
Also I’d get a VIS history report from a local GM dealer showing any warranty work and/or extended coverages. Some manual cars have a 10 yr/120k mi extended coverage on the clutch/master cylinder & a couple other coverages. My ‘12 has 3 attached to it.
Also check for harmonic balancer wobble. Mine didn’t have it when I bought it but has now developed a noticeable wobble at 36k miles.

Sounds like a nice car. The window sticker and build sheet will show all options the car has in a much easier and understandable manner than the RPO codes so if it checks out condition-wise, get it before someone else snags it.

Damn! Tough crowd in here. LOL!
1. The "Heritage Package" sounds familiar as it was described to me by a fellow Corvette club member who is familiar with the car (and was friends with the owner).
2, We probably will marry in a few years - as we have been together for nearly a year & a half without a single fight. We were both married before, so no need to jump the gun. I found the only woman in VA who is not a psycho. Haha!!
3. Yes, she does have good taste in cars. I really love that little Audi TT - which is a very responsive car........even though it has an automatic transmission (manuals were only available for the European market). For a little 2.0L 4cylinder engine, it gets up and goes.
4. The widow of the owner has all documentation for the car - including the build sheet.
5. I will try to capture some photos if we see the car tomorrow evening (weather permitting).
6. Have a great Sunday, folks!!

Know all that w/ this one, which sounds pretty good, low miles, well loved.
What kind of $ is gal asking?
IF you 2 do get this GS, and, it's to be a weekend cruiser?
Get a battery tender, keep it hooked-up every time it's parked.
Noting like going out to taker a cruise only find a dead battery after its been parked for prolonged periods.
Common actually; especially, for already old/weak.
One of the first lessons re C6 owners learn is just how much of a power hog C6 is when/if not driven..

Are you sure the seats have tan inserts and not titanium (a light gray color)? Most inserts were titanium. Jetstream blue was an $850 option in 2010.
Sounds like the perfect car. Grab it quick!
