Default Driving from MD to KY this Summer in my Centennial GS

Wife and i are taking a long weekend Road Trip this 4th of July to KY. We plan to hit Louisville and Bowling Green then to Nashville and through the Smoky Mts on return. Leaving MD and pretty much straight to Louisville

Any hot spots or suggestions for the route and or "must see places" ?

Unfortunately the Factory Tour wont be available. Any suggestions for car prep or other "rules of the road" anyone has to suggest?

Have several dates and times to be certain places, so cant stray too far off route, but would love to hear of any past experiences. Any and all feedback appreciated.

Thank You for your help

I’ll be doing a similar trip with the Corvette caravan the end of August this year. My first long road trip. Just about have my wife convinced she can travel for a week with what will fit in the convertible trunk. Hope you have a great trip.

be adventurous and take some side roads rather than all highway!

odds are you will stumble upon things that no one would ever even mention to you.

As Jeff T. said, just fill up and go and enjoy the ride!!!

You said you were coming back through the Smokey Mountains. Any plans on going thru the Tail of the Dragon? I plan on doing that on my way to the Corvette Caravan in August.

Just got home from eastern TN but couldn’t take the Corvette. Lots of great roads to drive. I’m jealous. Enjoy.

I did the Tail last year and scraped the heck out of the "replaceable" air dam underneath. Just be aware if that's an issue for you.

There are several roads outside of Louisville that have twists and turns, hills, horse farms and the like...

For specifics PM me.

I grew up in Louisville and live in Versailles about 60 miles east now.

We did a 2 week trip in 2014 from Eastern Canada to Akron Ohio for a golf tournament (Bridgestone Invitational) We then went to Bowling Green, Nashville, then on to the Amish Country near Lancaster PA. It was a great trip, lot's of great weather. We could of stayed for another week to see other sites. Pigeon Forge comes to mind. We drove closeby, but didn't have the time for that side trip. I'm sure a few days there would be interesting.
We did get to see the sink hole at the Museum, since it happened in February of 2014.

As mentioned, fill it up and go. We dis a 3 week trip to Key West, and stopped at many seacoast destination along the Eastern Seabord. Our last stop was at Martha's Vineyard for 3 days. That was a fun trip for sure. We have a coupe, so we can store 2 medium sixe suitcases in the back.
We try to book hotels that have self serve laundry facilties every 4-5 days so we can get our clothes refreshed and ready for the next burst on the highways.

Good
Sounds like fun

If you enjoy baseball, the Louisville Slugger factory tour is pretty neat!If you don't enjoy baseball then probably of no interest to you.
