I have a 2006 c6 shifter would not go into park, reverse on down no problem. I replaced the shifter assembly and the same thing is happening, but if I raise the assembly off the mounting bolts or raise it out of the housing it works fine. Any ideas?

How old is the cable? Sounds like it might be a cable adjustment.

Hummmmmmm. Try tying back the locking pawl, then put the shifter back down on the holding bolts and try it again. If it shifts, then it's the Micro-switch which releases the locking pawl that is bad, or if it still won;'t shift, then it's the cable /adjuster on the cable at the transmission end.

You may have snapped the plastic cable guide. I know this because that is what happened to mine when I tried to change the bushing. So I purchased a new cable and replaced it and it works great now.
