The ends of an era
After more than 65 years the last Front engine Corvette to be built will be for sale at BJ auction on June 28 RIP C7

I wonder what it will be - base, GS, Z##, or some 1-off special. I love watching the BJ auctions when they are on. The announcement of the C8, though, is largely the reason I bought my C6 last week. IMO the C6 is the most attractive Vette they ever made, but if the C7 was going to be around a little longer, I probably would have gotten one instead because it would be the most recent body style. I like the C7's, just not as much as the C6. Ultimately, since I'd be driving an "older body style" Corvette anyway, I opted for the C6. My prediction is that Rick Hendrick will purchase the last C7 and pay a crazy sum of money for it.

Another era died on 2013, round tail lights. Somehow a new mid engine Ferrari uses round taillights and looks fine. If all the renderings of the C8 are correct it looks like an Acura NSX and Camaro had a baby. Sad....

Couldn't agree more on the NSX comparison. I'm sure it will be bad *** but definitely the end of an era. I guess I'm part of the old school, but Corvettes should always have round taillights and Jeeps should always have round headlights. But it may not be long before we are all lamenting that cars should run on gasoline and be driven by humans.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
The true end of the era will come when all of the car makes start selling all electric cars and stop selling gasoline engines.

They used to sell some battery powered noise maker for bicycles when I was a kid. Never had one but I remember friends had them. I just had to go Vroom Vroom myself. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Personally, I've never been a fan of the C7. To me, it looks like a toy car. Glad to see it die and look forward to (possibly) getting the C8 in 2021. Won't get the first year car for past experiences with a C6.

I am pretty excited about the c8 ..... even though I will not own one for a long time LOL however, if they truly start out at $60k, it would be tempting ...... but maybe not until the second year or so.
The C7 body style never really grew on me, but I love the interior. IF i were ever to consier one, it would have to be a vert.
I do tend to agree about the round tail lights though. however, that's they same complaint people had about the flip up headlights isn't it?
with all the promotions, you can pick up a base C7 for $44k .....
I agree about the jeeps as well.... always round headlights. they did change to square in the mid 90's , but it was a flop and they quickly changed back.

We can always fasten playing cards to our brake calipers using clothes pins - I also wasn't "rich" enough for the electronic noise makers. No telling how many decks of cards and my mother's clothes pins I went through though.

I used to just slowly run over an aluminum can and it would pinch around my bmx tire and I'd use that lol

Is this what you're thinking of..
My neighbor had one on a Schwinn Stingray.... Mattel V-rroom!

Yep, that's the thing we always saw on the commercials between Saturday morning cartoons but most of us could only dream of having. It served no practical purpose - just a noise maker. Of course, it never occurred to us to think we should be wearing a helmet or not drinking out of the neighbor's water hose. How'd we ever survive?

Personally cant stand the proportions of a mid engine car, stubby front and long rear. Unless I get a C7 someday, it's goodbye Corvette for me.

The end if an era is correct, the end of Corvette really, the C8 will have nothing in common with a traditional Corvette other than the name.
