Hmm..didn't melt ..
.. But it sure got dirty. Had to drive to Vegas to run some errands and pick up my youngest granddaughter for a 4-day weekend. When I talked to her the other day, she asked if I could pick her up in the Corvette. I know she loves riding in it and we'd been having some great weather, so I said sure. When I got up this morning a small rain storm had rolled in, but not one to disappoint, I took the Corvette anyway. Even though there were a few puddles I couldn't avoid, the rain was relatively light and it made for a pleasant drive.

I drove last fall from the Smokey Mountains to Indianapolis in a pouring rain. So hard I expected the vert roof to saturate and leak.
Like yours, car survived, nothing leaked and after a good bath all was right with the world!!

I try not to drive in the rain simply because we get so little that when we do get rain it gets slick quick.
BUT when the kids are involved ya gotta do what ya gotta do, after all it's all about them.....

Race Car Tech
My C6 is used to the rain, because if one does as many road trips as we do (over 60K miles of them), there is no way that one will not hit rain at least 2 days a week in most cases, especially on the eastern seaboard. My car gets a self serve car wash, and drying after each day of driving, rain or shine. It's almost like an after supper desert for the car.
We pre-plan most of our road trips, and we know what city we will be stopping at after each day of driving. I google seach for self serve car washes in the stop overs, and enter them in the Nav memory points before we leave on the trip. After supper, it's enter destination, memory point, self serve car wash in that city, enter, wash car, return to hotel or go explore.
Here is one such car wash..this one in Sea Island GA
