Default Car Dryer - Metrovac vs McKees vs towels

These air dryers might be the best deal ever, but basically being a thrifty person, the bang for the buck looks iffy. Currently using some really soft absorbent towels and they seem to be doing a good job. Experienced guidance greatly appreciated.

Oh, I almost forgot - automatic trans.

After rinsing off your car, you can air dry it once you hit 80 mph or above.

I use Blackfire waterless wash and chinchilla microfiber towels as suggested by Mike Phillips and his buddy Robert.

When I wash with water I use the McKees air dryer. Works well, long cord 35’. Want to get the extension hose kit so I don’t have to shoulder the weight of the dryer itself (getting really lazy)

the only area I use a towel on is the door jambs. Everything else blows dry with the forced air.

I use a leaf blower to get most of it then use a QD and towels to clean up the rest.

I use this little guy. $30.00 from Chemical Guys. Easier to hold than a full sized leaf blower and loads of power

I have the McKee’s blower and I use edgeless towels from the rag company... the blower is the way to go. If you re going to use a leaf blower just see if you can get an attachment for a narrower output so your not blowing dust and dirt back onto the car.

if you don’t go the blower route- then just get yourself a 12 pack or 2 of edgless rags and use 1 per panel and you ll be ok. I just hate having to wash the rags...hence my recommendation for a blower.

I use the absorber synthetic chamois; works great and doesn't leave micro scratches.

Just washed and dried mine yesterday. About 4 years ago I was looking to buy one of these for the Vette and my Harley, the bike was a real PIA to dry. I priced this one- https://metrovac.com/collections/aut...torcycle-dryer it was at the time around $120. I looked at the Metro website and noticed their Metro Dryer PET version, https://metrovac.com/collections/pet...able-pet-dryer it had the same exact specs as the other one and came with a flex hose and was cheaper, priced at IIRC around $100. I found it in Bed Bath and Beyond for $100 and got the $20 off coupon that they offer so I bought it for $80. Been using it on the bike and the Vette for all this time and still works great. I like the fact that it warms the air a bit for faster drying plus it filters the air that goes through it and it's Made in America...good luck in your search!

Same here, my 80V Leaf Blower does a great job, and is much quicker and thorough than towels. If I have the time I will follow up with some detailer spare and some microfiber towels.
