New Foothills Pkwy & Gatlinburg Sky Bridge
For those living or visiting in the east Tennessee area, here are two new things to enjoy. The newly opened Foothills Pkwy near Townshend offers incredible views just like the Blue Ridge Pkwy, and when in Gatlinburg, the best $20n you can spend is taking the chair lift to the new Sky Bridge which is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America. The middle section is clear so you can look down. We even saw a bear running while on top and also an elk in the national park. Enjoy the photos.
The newly opened section
Wait for the elk!
A bear running near the suspension bridge.
Long pedestrian suspension bridge.
Chairlift over Gatlinburg.
Wonderful views from new Foothills Pkwy.

The road definitely had some great views of the Smokies. We were there in March for Corvette Expo. It's yearly trip for us!!!

Thanks for all the replies. Just wanted to add that there are few remnants of the horrible fires from a few years ago. Most everything is green again and businesses re-built.

Did the new parkway on a Saturday back in April, it was great. There was very little traffic, but all posted speed limits were observed. I am sure it is a lot different during the summer.

^^^ The speed limit signs were strange. We saw some that stated 25 mph???? It wasn't even a 'twisty' section.
