Default New to Florida. need recommendations

Hi Everyone!
I just relocated to the Tampa, FL area from CA ( shout out to Corvette Specialists in San Dimas,!) and am looking for recommendations to take care of my baby.
I definitely need a brake shop ASAP. Also looking for window tint. And a mechanic that specializes in Corvettes for future maintenance

Best recommendation for ALL of Florida....be very careful. Use only reputable shops. Don't try to save a few bucks and work with a guy out of his truck. Never pay for work up front. Good luck. I have some places in SE Florida. Sorry, can't help you out in the Tampa Bay area.

Welcome to the Tampa Bay area where you either rust, rot or grow mildew.
As stated above by Turbo6TA be careful I had some shops do nice work on my C5 and then disappear was glad I picked my car up before they left town. No one touches my GS now.
Stingray Chevrolet in plant city. There is also a place on Dale Mabry called Corvette shop and supplies. They have been in business for a long time. I don't know any particulars.

The two clubs listed have large memberships and will probably be a good source for you. I live north of Tampa and do all my own work as I am considered very fussy.

Suggestion: follow the advice above. I kept a list of places in your new area and it's short. Powertech and Corvette Shop and Supplies on Dale Mabry are the only consistent two. tampatopless referred to them both back about five or so yeas ago.

Seriously, you relo'd from Carlsbad, CA? Beautiful place. Have fun in FLA.

Depending where you are in Tampa, MCOR Automotive did a great job on my window tint.

Welcome to Tampa!
I went to them first with a Groupon in hand that they refused. We had first called them on the phone and to make an appointment and they stated as polite as they can be "Yeah, come on in we'll honor it" and once we got into the showroom they refused to honor it and then got real ugly in attitude so we walked and found the location I posted above.

Default Tint

While I’m local to tampa, lived here my whole life, I can’t offer any recommendations on where to service your Vette since I do all of my stuff at our family owned shop. I can tell you that of the dealerships in the area, Dimmit and Stingray chevy have pretty solid reputations, if you do choose to go the dealership route DO NOT go to any of the Ferman’s!
Tint wise, I’ve had mine done twice, once by a dealership and again by Leo Touch in tampa. It was expensive. I got the good stuff on the doors and the rear hatch in 5%. They did a great job. But I have yet to see a Vette with a tint job on the rear hatch window that doesn’t have micro bubbles around the little dimples (whatever they’re called/used for).. if anyone knows of someone that can make those magically disappear, let me know and I’ll pay them well to knock that out one weekend... nevertheless, I was satisfied, although I won’t go quite as dark next time around. If you have an IG you can check it out (@zero2speedlimit). Best of luck and see ya around!

As far as the tint ..... I would forget the rear glass and just have the side windows tinted.

Had my side windows tinted for $60 ... easy job

I'm in central Florida and haven't had my tint done yet, but there is a shop here with a very good reputation - named UnderGlass. I called them the day after I bought the car hoping to get it done right away. I talked to the owner and he said these are a tough job and he'd want to get the car all day to make sure they do it right rather than do it fast. Not only is the back glass tough, but the side windows also because of the way they index down when you open the doors. He said they would need to "dummy" the doors to keep the glass up and then they'd recommend using a high end 3M film that they could let sit in the sun so that by the time I get the car back, things would be set enough that the windows indexing up and down or rolling the windows down to remove the top would not be an issue. When I've had tint done in the past, they have always recommended not rolling the windows down for a couple of days after.

There is also a very large Vette club here and the local Chevy dealer (George Nahas) has close ties with the club. I haven't joined the club so I don't know how many members use them for service, but my guess is a good many do - so they likely have a lot of experience with almost every gen of Corvette. I've heard good things about Stingray Chevrolet as well.

Welcome to Florida! I also moved here from California (Santa Barbara). I have experienced excellent service at Dimmit Chevrolet on the Pinellas County side of Tampa Bay. Their Corvette specialist is very good. He knows how to set-up the alignment for the street and they will match price with others on tires. I live in the Safety Harbor area. I bought my Corvette at Stingray, but driving to Lakeland for the little new-car problems and then waiting got old real quick.

Check out the 3rd Saturday of the month Cars & Coffee Meet at Dupont Registry's headquarters in Pinellas County, just off I-275 across the bay from Tampa. Great monthly event for early risers, Great assortment of interesting cars and bikes.

I live in the Oldsmar area. Right next to Tampa.

Window Tint = TampaBayTints located off of Watters and about Hanley

Performance shop/ maintenance = 360 Customs off 301 in Brandon / Faster Poms in Lutz / PowerTech in St Pete. There's a ton of Corvette shops all over. These are the only ones I've dealt with that I know do solid work

Tuning = Phil with Tampa Bay Tuning. Jeremy with FasterPoms. Any of the guys who tune for the shops above.

Dealership = Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City

Like everyone else has been telling you, be careful. Theres always a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who can come to your house and do the job.
