C6 aftermarket stereo
Looking to change out my stock head unit.
I have an 07 3lt with Bose stereo.
Is kenwood still the way to go?
im thinking of keeping with the stock speakers for now.
Is there a forum sponsor recommended to source a head unit and all needed harnesses?
doing this myself as I’ve had plenty of past experience with head units.
tthanks in advance.

I've got pretty much same car, 08', went with Kenwood 9903, think that's now replaced with 9904, same unit just no hdmi input which is not used much anyways... But my go to place is Crutchfield for all connectors, harnesses etc. They have great customer service and prices are good too. I didn't change speakers either and the sound quality and level was improved like 1000%. Made me regret not doing this earlier. It's a very simple install. My most difficult hurdle was getting the shifter **** off. Over all piece of cake and amazing upgrade!

A lot of people go with the Kenwood set up; I had one installed several years back and kept my Bose speakers. I'm now getting ready to upgrade it to a new model. Crutchfield is a good source; you can easily find the correct unit for your car and they will list the kits you need and provide instructions for easy installation; their customer service is very good as well. While I was looking for the new (upgrade) unit for mine, I did an online chat with their customer service to see if I would need to upgrade my installation kits as well; they did a little research and informed me that I would not.
Here's a link to Crutchfield: https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html?

Kenwood or Pioneer?
Which multi-entertainment system will also solve the problem of having both front parking and rear parking cameras using one monitor?
How about dash cam with an external high resolution weather proof camera mounted outside in the rear also using this same screen on stereo screen?
I would like to incorporate everything into this one monitor screen. Including Bluetooth, HD radio, Satellite radio and maybe but not certain GPS navigation.

I prefer Pioneer myself, been buying Pioneer systems for years and never had issues with any of them, very well built and great sounding with a bunch of features.

I am in the midst of installing a Kenwood EXcelon DNX696S in my 2011 Grand Sport (3LT and Bose. Also installing a Kenwood CMOS320 rear camera and a Clarion 720 for the front camera. I’m taking lots of pictures of each step planning to post a detailed write up of the process. Bought all from Crutchfield’s with excellent support thus far. Had them do the wiring harness old to new with the RP5-GM11 interface.
i am not replacing the amp or speakers now, but planning to add a Kenwood amp in my waterfall (convertible) and new speakers. While the center dash is open I am going to run an amp power cable along with my front camera wiring through the firewall and my RCA pre-out cables from the new head unit to avoid pulling my dash apart again.
give a week or so and I will be posting the install here. Good luck on your selection of components.

looks like this Kenwood covers it all except navigation which I really don't care about since I have independent Garmin GPS and Tom Tom Units.

I went with this unit. Great sound, no moving parts, has both apple and android support.

I also highly suggest getting this regardless of what radio you go with. Replace one of the two cigarette lighters with this for a cleaner install instead of having a usb cable hanging around. Ill post pictures later when I can.

I'm about to head to the stereo shop that installed an Alpine Nav head unit in my 2011 GS Vert.
The rear camera came on when you go into reverse, but the front camera needed 4-5 button pushes/swipes and 7-10 seconds to come up... WAY too long.
I wired up a switch for them to install...
It's a double pole, double throw rocker switch of the On-Off-On variety. Left side switches the camera input to the head unit, Right side connects the power to the cameras when either front or rear camera is switched on.
The head unit senses the 12V + and goes priority to camera feed... It doesn't know or care which camera it is looking at. Both cameras are powered up when either is switched on, but only the selected camera feed is sent to the head unit.
I bought two small rockers for this from Mouser...

I wired them up with leads and marked them with labels. Hopefully they can install it with no issues. I just can't bend well enough anymore to do this myself or I would.
I don't see why this switch couldn't be used with basically any head unit that has similar rear camera priority setup as probably all do.

But as previously mentioned I will need 2 more cameras or at least one more rear external camera for a dash cam on windshield. A total of 3 cams. The dash cam will have a camera in front of the unit mounted on windshield and an extension to a rear cam located somewhere near rear license plate to record.
