Maintenance and reliability for one.
and there are only 2012-13 - Qty 14,000 Grand Sports out there. Voted Best Looking Corvette of all time ( )
and there are about 37,000 2014 C7s out there - most with A6 - 64% of the C7s have the automatic-- which went to a A8 in 2015 but the bad reputation of that guy will affect price 2014s

They will almost never go much under 20k.....Even an 05 now brings close that unless its a clunker.... That is what makes them such a bargain even today...Yes the cost is higher but the bottom is higher as well...So the difference is really the value... I've seen 05's with 60k asking 25k this week...I saw a 05 vert with 109k asking 20k
Good luck...they are way more fun than a Mustang...I've had a couple of those too....

I hate to offend you, but this is total nonsense. Maybe you think a clunker is anything with more than 50K miles...IDK. Three years ago, I bought a very, very nice '08 with 96K for 17,500. I drove it for a year, sold it for 17,500, and bought a very nice 2-owner '12 Centennial Edition with 54K for under $25K. Today, you can find nice '05's for well under $20k.
I think they will bottom out around $13,000, "unless it is a clunker".

Bump.
I decided to take a look at the price trends for C6's today, since I'm currently in the market for one and came up with this chart.
C6 Price Trends (CarGurus) https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/price-...et-Corvette-d1
Do you guys think the prices for C6's will basically remain at these levels?
I'm currently looking at a loaded '05 Vert (1SB, F55, powered top, etc.) w/ 32k original miles with a clear but branded title (weird story; essentially lost a vin plate) priced at $17k.
Minus the branded title, the car appears to be clean and KBB has it at $22k Fair | $24.6k Good.
Ultimately, I'm not really worried about resale value, but if it seems likely that we'll see a heavy drop over the winter or a ~35-40% drop within the next few years, I may kick myself a bit.
Just curious to see what you guys think.

A lot has changed since this thread was started. Some could have been avoided, some not. Regardless, here we are and there's new factors in play.
Between inflation, reduction of involvement, and market forces, you will never buy a car like this for less money than now. The prices of these will continue to rise at 10% or more per year with inflation, as your dollar is worth less and less on durable goods.
Combine that with an auto industry that's killing off manuals and more interested in selling you a vehicle as a service you borrow from them, and probably don't even drive yourself, cars like the c6 with a steering wheels and manual trans will become rarer and more collectible. That's not even factoring in the electric power being forced on us.
Speaking of that, the cost of new vehicles is skyrocketing. An EV transition will likely have the cost of a similar behicle go up 75%. That's going to price out a lot of people who will be used car shoppers.
So in general, prices will rise. Not just in a c6, but anything remotely like it. The only exception is mileage. Obviously if youre putting 30k miles a year on the car, it's value won't go up. But with a static mileage, they will, and cars with low mileage will go up by even more.
Now then, to car in question. Run away. You don't just "lose a vin tag". That's a lie, run away. Those KBB prices you listed are WAY off from reality, on the low side by many thousands. Like 7 thousand low minimum.
If you can only afford a salvage car, find an honest one. The story on that doesn't check out. Or better yet, buy a nice c4 or a pretty good c5, you'll be a lot happier overall.

The car I'm looking at is actually from this post:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-25000-a.html
I spoke with the OP of the f/s listing and he gave me the full rundown of the vehicle (just) before and during his ownership. The extent of the damage was minor (cosmetic only; no impact on structure or function). The tag went missing while the vehicle was sitting on the auction lot (car was repo'd which is why it was at auction). It's assumed that the owner who had the car repo'd from him had pulled the tag, as he was there at the auction, bidding on the car to try and get it back.
I have a few more places left to call to verify the history (e.g. Minnesota DMV, the auction company, a dealership that took in the vehicle on trade), but after speaking with the guy who was involved in the whole ordeal and getting the spiel from him, he seemed honest and being that he hasn't owned the vehicle for nearly a decade, I don't see why he'd make any of the story up.

That's a lot of hoops for a car that at the end of the day is still a salvage cat.
I get that it's cheap... but that's just too much of a story for me, especially for an 05, which is the least desirable year.

If I had a nickel for every time I said we're going to have a pandemic, global supply chain and labor shortages, and used car prices are going to skyrocket....I would not have any nickels.

2022 C3 of the Year Finalist - Modified
If you are hung up on the "dollar value" of a Corvette......you are focusing on the wrong thing. Owning a Corvette is about driving it. I don't give a crap about how much I would sell it for......as I have no plans for ever selling any of them. I own them because of what they bring into my life.....not because of money.
