Default Passenger seat airbag light

Anyone ever had the problem where the airbag warning light on the dash intermittently goes on/off when someone is sitting in the passenger seat? When it’s on, I ask the passenger to shift their weight a little, which results in the light going off for a little while.

I believe the simple fix for this is to make sure the two halves of the electrical connector under the seat are fully seated and then reinforce with a cable tie so it doesn't work itself loose again.

I believe GM had a recall for that issue. I had it happen on my 2013 GS, Took it to my local dealer for repair.

It is not a recall - GM has simply extended the warranty to 10 years / 120,000 miles to cover this repair if it is needed. Special Coverage # 15643 reads, "Do not take your vehicle to your GM dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition described above."

Condition can be caused by: "When the seat is moved forward or back, the connector may be dragged along the carpet, pulling terminals loose or pulling the connector apart. This will cause a diagnostic trouble code to be set and the service airbag light will be illuminated."
