I have a 05 Z51 I purchased last year. The old brake fluid was nasty so I flushed it out for new.

Actually I changed every fluid it was all nasty except for the engine oil.

I can't get the peddle back all the way and the brakes also want to lock up.

I spent hours trying to bleed them and I thought we had it but no luck.

Any ideas?

Maybe I ran the system too low on fluid trying to purge the old stuff and ruined something.

How did you flush the system? You should never run your brake fluid reservoir too low as air can get into the system.

Not sure on an '05 but on my '10, I had to use a Tech II to fully bleed the brakes. You power bleed them and then I had to use the Tech II to bleed the ABS system.

You've got air trapped in the system somewhere and you'll likely need a powered bleeder to purge the remaining out.

I have an 05 ---- Yes and Yes. I don't know (I have a Tech II), but I've read that if you get most of the air out the brakes will start to work. Then drive the car and activate the ABS a time or two, bleed the brakes, repeat until working. This method personally would scare me and I'd take the car to a mechanic.

I agree with the others and use a pressure bleeder (that's what I use) or a vacuum bleeder. If you're doing it the old fashioned way you need two people, coordination of the brake peddle and bleeder screws and the correct bleed order but it can be done.

I also had a friend that thought he would clean up master fluid, and had the same problem you have right now, and had the car towed to the dealership, to get them bleed properly.

This is why I have never messed with brakes, past pad and rotor swaps lol. I always have someone who has the power bleeder do it at a shop since the peace of mind is worth it to me
