Insurance - yes or no!
Hi all, well I took a trip this weekend from Eureka, Ca to Weaverville, Ca. During the trip a large rock took out a portion of my splitter, appears to have broken a spot on frame (not sure) and put small hole in oil pan.
Didn't notice till arrived back home and large oil puddle under vette. Went out today and quick jacked it to see what happened. Had to kitty litter under car to get oil up and still waiting to soak it up so can get farther underneath.
Not sure what to do. It is 2009 Z06 6speed. Thc

Can you fix yourself? If not, insurance is your best bet. If you can, maybe cheaper to fly than a decuctibde.

my sister in law had a part fly off a truck and take the oil pan clean off of her 2013 ford explorer about 2 years ago. Being on a road trip they had the car towed to a dealership to be repaired. The insurance covered it as a comprehensive claim (aka no deductible).
My wife had a small fender bender and the insurance fixed it for $1500 and our insurance only went up something like $100 a year.
In the situation with my wife's car, we had a friend fix it as a side job and the insurance company cut us the same check regardless.
Im going to guess the splitter plus paint plus the radiator shroud (which is what I am guessing you broke) plus the oil cover is going to be more expensive than you think.

id file. If I’m not mistaken the oil pan is a big job hours wise. Didn’t it chip the windshield and put chips in the paint ? Lol. Just kidding.

That's what insurance is for. File the claim.

File a claim, and do not have it fixed at a dealer. There is a good chance carfax will not pick it up if it is repaired at an indie shop. Also, check the hood and all other forward-facing surfaces VERY closely for any dings, pits, specks, etc. They should all get repaired at the same time.
