2005 c6 ls2 getting the love it deserves
Since I bought one, figured I may as well join the forums.
Bought this 05' March of 2019. Bone stock with 64k miles. 6spd LS2.
The car goes into JDP Motorsports here in Salt Lake City next week for a ECS Novi 1500 Supercharger and tune.
Current modifications since purchasing 9 months ago -
Catback Borla S-Type Exhaust
Lifter/Rockerarms
Lowering bolts
K&N intake
Wheels -Varro VD01 - 19X9.5 (front) 20X11 (rear)
Tires - NITTO NT555 G2 - 275/35/R19 (front) 305/30/R20 (rear)
I am hoping to make around 550whp after SC install and custom tune. Next week. Hoping the stock clutch can handle the increased HP/TQ. Seems to be in good working order so we will see!

No need to worry about the stock clutch. It can easily handle 550 HP and more. The rear end is something you might want to consider, though. The 05 rear ends are a known weak spot.

Good to know. Thank you. I am just now getting into the vette game so forgive the noob questions. What did they change from 05 to newer years for the c6?
The car wont be driven crazy hard. I typically drive it on weekends is all and a road trip here and there a couple times a year

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I believe they changed the diff bracing. Seem to recall there are aftermarket braces available to reinforce the 05 diff.
Nice looking C6.
Enjoy.

In the running for cleanest '05 around, soon to be quite snappy.
FYI: C6 rear end castings received extra bracing for MY '06 forward.
Those exploding '05 rear ends happened while track drag racing, routinely dumping clutch.
While there're workarounds like upgraded rear ends, reinforcing of some kind.
Bottom line's stock '05 REs did not like heavy/violent shock(s), w/could literally explode under extreme stress.
@ 550 RWHP yours is a candidate, so go lightly.

Thank you for the useful info Landru. I will keep that in mind. I’ve always taken good care of my toys, you beat them they beat you lol. Although I am pretty damn stoked to feel the power it will put down after the SC install! I picked it up from an older guy that had it serviced at the dealer it’s entire life and garaged so I know it has been taken care of.
The clutches feels strong as well. I actually just flushed the fluid (ranger method) it actually was not as dirty as I have read others have been.
any recommendations on a cam and supporting mods? I know JDP said I will be around 7-8psi at this elevation (4300ft)

I, too, have an 05 6mn. The stock diff lasted 13 years with 605 whp. BUT, I never abused the drivetrain. No launches. No burnouts. Last year I changed engines, now 823 hp and an entire Z06 drivetrain. The 05 diff never failed me.

That makes me feel pretty confident about the added power from the SC. I never beat on my cars so from everything i have been hearing the car will be pretty solid with 550whp! Cant wait to get the SC installed!
