Default Replacing low beam bulb high voltage danger

It is suggested to disconnect battery. I would rather not do so. Is it really nesesary to do so. Car on blocks for winter for last month so and lights have not been activated, would not think it would have voltage power now.
the fender liner and cover have been removed I’m afraid to pull the bulb out .

You could try pulling fuses, but I would just disconnect the battery. A lot easier and more certain.

Same here, maybe use rubber gloves and split the difference?

I always replace with 6000k bulb, and never been shocked. I do not disconnect battery. Done many times.

Lots of us do it regularly with no ill effect.

Just index the windows afterward.

The ballast and bulbs have the potential of causing a high voltage shock if not handled correctly. (Disregard the blue arrows in the photos, these pictures were from a write up I did concerning changing out a ballast).

Default HID low beam headlights

Your HID low beam headlights on the C6 have a ballast that converts the 12 volts up to several thousand volts to be able to trigger the headlight bulb.
Unlike normal incandescent bulbs that have a filament the HID bulbs are gas filled and there has to be a certain ignitor voltage to be able to trigger the lights to come on. The mixture of gases determines the color of the bulb. 4300k, 5000k, 8000k, etc.. the higher the number the more bluish tint of the bulb's color.

I've replaced several of the HID bulbs on my C6 as well as a friend of mine's Camaro ZL1. Never any issues. Just make sure you wear thin rubber gloves and be very careful not to get any fingerprints on the glass HID bulb. If you do get a fingerprint on the bulb by mistake clean it good with isopropyl alcohol.

Absolutely no need to disconnect the battery, pull fuses or anything just be very careful and don't drop that torx screw when you're taking it out!
if you want to make certain you don't drop that torque screw I recommend simple mod by putting one or two magnets through the end of the torx bit.
I ordered the magnets on eBay and also Banggood.com

There are 2 per side. On the Brackets that hold the bulbs in.

I tried to change mine out but could not get the connector off the bulb. Had my original AW set and tried it on them also. Still could not remove the connector. Ended up paying the dealership $75 to install new bulbs.

new low beam vette lights did not a part for screws . I did not know I had to take backing off old lights and put on the new lights. I phoned v lights for that info. Did not disconnect battery, all installed now and works perfectly. My new led fog lights pass side did not come on so I reversed the plugin and all’s fine. They are like crazy bright. Thank all for your advise.
