C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Is that all? I only kid. I used to own an '03 Mach 1. Bought it new off the showroom floor, and it was a wonderful car. Being that you're used to some torque, I think you'd be disappointed with anything but a Z. Throw a few mods on the LS7 and it's an animal. Good luck.

Well, I think I'm one of the few who have had both for any extended number of miles. I don't know if my opinion counts in among the other armchair quarterbacks that had only one and were imagining the other, but...
My thoughts between the two: '09 Z06 vs, '14 Z51 (don't even start on whether that was considered base or not ).
70,000 miles on the Z06, and currently 117,000 on the '14. My '09 had zero problems, even though I expected it to self destruct at any moment. My'14 had to have the tensioner pulley replaced at 50,000 (super minor problem). In the first 70,000 miles, then they both were basically problem free.
Comparing the two becomes problematic, because they both feel so different. The C6 (in general even base models) feel more powerful, raw, but the C7 is so much more refined; capable of taking even the Z06 to task.
