Slushbox Auto with paddles is in no way comparable to a real manual with a clutch (or even SMG style gearbox).

Its not the same

my preference:
1 . REAL manual (not pu$$y one)
2. SMG style (ie. Robot actuated slave/ clutch) paddle
3. Slushbox paddle / auto Without paddles - I really cant differentiate between the two bc I know slushbox paddles arent anything like having a ‘clutch’

4. self driving cars

I’ve found the paddles better than nothing but not even close to the real feel of the stick
That sounds like a reason to keep the stick car, haha. My dad can drive stick, and in a pinch the gf could.... maybe, but being stick means no sister or mom wanting to drive it. Heck most of my friends can't drive it, makes things a lot easier, haha.

Get the A6 for a DD if you have heavy traffic. Have it tuned to improve the shifting. Still not as good as an M6 but makes the best DD.

For a weekend fun car get the Manual.
I've owned both and prefer the A6 as a DD here in DFW traffic. Wish it was a M6 on the fun runs though.
To be honest the M6 shifting experience as provided by GM needs improvements.

I went back and forth with this when I was buying mine. Ended up with the manual, and SO FREAKING GLAD I DID. I can't explain why, but the manual is so much more fun. Sure it is slower, more work, but man those are worth it.

I had manual sport cars for most of my driving life. When I looked at the C6 at retirement, and knew what I wanted it for (Road Trips), there was no way I was going with a manual. Too much traffic ion the cities, esppecially those that I had no idea how busy they were. I'm glad I bought the A6, and use the paddles 90% of the time.
If it was a weekend car, car shows, etc, different story. it would of likely been a manual

All the die hard MT guys are never going to own a C8, because they will not be available with a manual transmission. Albeit, they will have dual clutch A8 transmissions, so it will be as close to a MT as gears can be changed without interrupting the power flow from the engine to the transmission.

Just my unbias opinion

I have owned 3 manual vettes, and recently had a 2018 jaguar XJ r type , supercharged with the auto paddles.\\

I wanted to love them, and at first it was ok, but it got boring very fast and I barely used them after day 2

I would not drive an automatic vette unless I was forced too due to health reasons

My sentiments exactly. Traffic around here is getting so bad that there is no enjoyment left with a stick when I want to daily drive or go for a quick trip for something. As for the paddle shifters, I hardly ever touch them. It's just another automatic. I put it in drive and go. You got to go with what will make you happy.

If you know in your heart you want a manual then don't settle for an auto.

Or if you do both go with the manual and when you are driving around town shift 1-4 and you might as well have a auto.

Manual for me. Mine is not a daily driver but I will hop in it to go to the stores. It is a pain when in traffic but I enjoy the manual to much to give it up.
Hell, I still downshift when approaching a traffic light.
Even most car thieves can't drive a manual so it serves as a anti theft device.

I see you have met my wife,LOL. That was her only condition other than a Max price. She hasn't driven it yet and I bought it last spring. 😬
