Mantic vs McLeod
Hi everyone, I’m in need of a clutch upgrade for my ls2 turbo. Looking for something that can handle around the 700-800 range but be street friendly.
although the car will mainly be a street car it may go to a street circuit 1/2 a year.
move come up with these 3 options and would be appreciated if anyone can give me there opinion and feedback, good and bad.
Mantic 9000 twin cerametallic
Mantic 9000 triple organic
Mcleod RXT

Thanks. Did you have any issues with the install?
mine negative comment I did read on the McLeod was something to do with fitting and having to space it out.
as I’m over the pond in the U.K. I can’t take too much risk with issues as it’ll be expensive to send back.

If you have time, Mantic offers rebuilds on units he gets in on trade i.e. customer going from dual to triple disc. Give him a call for lead times. I got a stupendous deal on my clutch kit.

Running twin ceramic mantic. It does chatter a bit taking off from stop lights, especially stopped on a hill. Pedal pressure like stock. if I had to do it again, I would go with the organic.

interesting, so you would go with triple organic if doing it again?
is this just because of the chatter or additional reasons?

I drive my car a good bit, so the chatter is the only thing that I don’t like. I knew going in that ceramic clutches can chatter, but didn’t realize it would get on my nerves as much. At times you can finesse it a bit and get away with no chatter. The wife says it’s like riding in a car that is falling apart lol

My McLoad RXT organic has really impressed me, holding 944/801 strong and I’ve been told if this wasn’t a 900+whp C6z you could probably teach someone to drive a manual easily with this clutch.
When it does need replacing another RXT will go in its place.

I had posted this elsewhere, but I just had a Mantic 9000+ clutch failure at roughly 9k miles. Upon removal of the Mantic clutch It was discovered that the pressure plate assembly had cracked severely. It seemed to be a materials defect. This was on a gently driven street car.
I saw some complaints on the web on these units. Has anyone else on this forum had a similar issue? This cost me $3,400+.
I have been unable to get any response from Mantic customer service or warranty claims except to send an email to a group of individuals, none of whom answered my email or contacted me. A clutch coming apart at a higher RPM can be deadly.

This is a link to a forum that has a thread on Mantic clutches. The consensus is to not use Mantic, but I have a low mileage rebuild-able Mantis 9000+ that needs the spring retaining plate replaced which I would sell cheap.Link

Get the best organic one that will hold and is non puck type if you can...McCleod makes some good stuff.
Organics typically wont chatter or grab too quick like an on/off switch. Some of it depends on flywheel weight, actually lean towards a heavier one on a st car.
