Default c6 performance

SO in the market for 2005-07 last car was 96 CE. Drove first one a dealer yesterday off the line kind of disappointed with the performance. my CE has performance axle but this one seemed a little dogged. It was 05 with 53K miles but 5 owners. Could this have just been a bad apple or are the c6 a little slow off the line

Throttle tip in is a lot slower. That's the electronic throttle vs a legit throttle cable in the c4.

You can put a throttle controller on it and fix that problem in about five minutes. They are about $300 and are plug and play with response adjustments.

Or $100 for a lightly used Vitesse. Eliminating all or most of the Torque Management makes a huge difference. I've done both, and tweaked the A6 shifting to my preferences. It's much more responsive now.

Was the 05 an automatic? If so they have a lot of torque management that might be what you are feeling.

Or buy the Soler Throttle Controller for $75 as it works great and does the exact same thing as the more expensive controllers.

I haven't seen that particular throttle controller mentioned on this forum. It is at a much lower price-point than others - any idea why? I've been considering picking up a throttle controller, just trying to understand the differences between them all besides the price.

I don't know how you could miss them as they spam the forum as a vendor about once a week. They have good reviews and I've heard no negative. I'm personally running a Vitesse I picked up used for $60 in the used parts section of this forum.

Oh - I'll admit that I stopped checking the Vendor Sale section a while ago. Most of the threads in that forum were started a long time ago, so in order to read about the actual products they're selling, I have to scroll through several pages of 'bump', 'ttt', and 'In Stock! Contact us for pricing!'. I should go spend some time in that section of the forum. That said, thanks for the suggestion to OP and I. Much appreciated.

In outward appearance it looks like Vitesse.

Does a throttle controller only work with an automatic? Would it work on my 6 speed Z51 05? A little extra response would be fun.

I don't own one myself, so I cannot attest to how much of a difference they actually make, but a throttle controller should work on the car no matter the transmission type. The C6 has a drive by wire gas pedal, and the delay/softness created there is what these throttle controllers aim to correct.

It works equally well with auto or manual... BUT.... to the best of my knowledge they are not available for 2005 cars, only 2006-2019.

Simple version.... The only thing a throttle controller does is reprogram the throttle input to be more linear similar to a true throttle cable. In stock format the C6 fly by wire system only opens the throttle approx 25% at half throttle and feeds in the last 75% in the second half. This is the old man/secretary factory safe setting. While a throttle controller adds no power they make the cars 10 times more fun to drive.

Now... this post will probably be followed by 10 guys stating they make no difference, add no power, are a waste of money, and their foot is just as fast as a throttle controller.

Personally I love my throttle controller and consider them a great value for dollars spent... Your mileage may vary...
