Default Dash center speaker cover and grille problem.

Ok so I need a hand with this Because if I do it wrong, I may only multiply the problem. I have been obsessed with finding the culprit for this humming rattle for weeks now and its this plastic grille on the top of the dash with what looks like a half marble Glued to it and the silhouette of the center speaker ..but I dont think theres a speaker in there..anyhow its become brittle and the plastic cross members are breaking in places and humming against one another, then they break and torpedo the inside of my ventilation ducts, where they buzz, bounce, and make my brain melt. I need this gone, but I cant find anything on YouTube or the interwebs that discusses the removal of this dashboard bombardier. Does anyone know if a pry tool is adequate to take this out? What IS THAT LITTLE DOME? And do i need to be careful not to pull it out like a psycho because it has a harness Attached? Is there an improved part I can snap into place once I do get it out?
Anyone have the same issue? And while Im on the whole Rattle subject, my drivers door glass is rebounding against something metal all of a sudden..something tells me it should be a simple fix, but I know better, so any thoughts on that I would appreciate as well. Thank God for my FlowMaster exhaust, at least that drowns out enough of the chatter to keep me from losing my 💩.
Any thoughts or insight is appreciated..until then I will Shake Rattle and Roll With it.

I’m sure you will get answers soon. You are smart not to yank it out.

The half dome piece is the Sun Load and Twilight sensor. It is needed for the HVAC system.
Using a nylon pry tool on the edges to pop the grill out is how to do it. It is held in place with metal trim clips. There is a speaker under that grill, it is the center channel for the stereo system.

The dome is a sensor which turns on the auto headlights at dusk. As mentioned, using a pry tool remove the grille [GM part # 25932324]. While you are at it, disconnect the speaker since it is mono and muddies the separation between the right and left channels. Your stereo will sound better without this speaker.

The grill is held in place with male clips that are molded into the grill. These clips then push into the dash and held in place. The grill can be lifted using a plastic trim removal tool. The trick is to pry up near the clips so as not to break them.
The small Marble is the twilight sentinel which is used to automatically put the headlights on, the interior lights on at dusk.
A new grill is part # 25932324 Check out the link to see the pictures of where the clips are located.p

New "defroster grill" from Cultrag was $50 ... well worth it.

I will check into that part. Thank you, I was having zero luck trying to guess what this was called..probably why my searches yielded little to no usable information.
Much appreciated.

So I got the vent off, and immediately discovered the source of my torment. Theres a plastic ring that the center speaker has to keep the acoustic foam ring and the cone of the speaker attached to its metal base. Yeah that theres the problem, it was free floating underneath the grille. In the process of removing the cover of course one of the clips broke off. But even with that new problem, I was actually able to save the original part with a butt ton of epoxy. It looks fine, and lo and behold...there aint a sqeak or rattle coming from there or anywhere else in my cabin... its a Christmas Miracle! If Christmas were in October, and had anything to do with solving the issue.
Also I heard on another thread that disconnecting the center speaker actually can clean up the audio. Mine was broken and needed to be punished anyhow, so I went ahead with that, and wouldn’t you know? It sounds Much cleaner. Like the channels are doing exactly what they are supposed to, lows are deep and not muddy, and the overall feeling of being in the middle of the sound has improved noticeably.
Weird that shutting down that middle speaker would make such a difference, but I dont need to understand it to appreciate the advice. So there ya go. Thanks everyone again.
